Virtual Machine - splitting disk into multiple files makes it easier to move?

VMware Workstation, the best Virtual Machine software i ever saw. But everytime i create a machine something makes me wonder existance:
You can choose if you want the virtual disk to store as a single file or as multiple files. The information text says
"Splitting the disk makes it easier to move the virtual machine to another computer but my reduce performance with very large disk"
That it redudes performance i can understand, but why does it make it easier to move the machine to a other computer?? Wouldnt one single file be alot easier because you just have to move ONE file, instead of several smaller ones? This sounds so weird..but i bet theres a explanation
There are some filesystems with an upper limit on the size of a single file they can store. I think FAT32 is still used on a lot of removable media, USB drives, etc and has a maximum file size of around 4 gigabytes, a value which wouldn't be uncommon for a virtual hard disk to exceed if stored as a single file. That might be what they're referring to.
This. I can check my XP VM’s split sizes later but I think they’re around this size for FAT32 compatibility.
