So much for that partnership for Skyrim paid mods.
Goodbye any slim chance that I might have eventually caved and bought it.
I guess this is where we part ways then, Bethsoft.
Interesting that Quake Champions is on Steam.
Now we have Steam, Origin, GOG Galaxy, Uplay, Bethesda.net, Battle.net, Epic Games Launcher, and LOL's launcher.
Probably won't buy it. Beth can't get away with it like EA could.
"Bethesda.net"
Fuck
Off
You already need it for Skyrim and Fallout 4 mod tools, and until recently to be able to play Quake Champions for free.
Thankfully GOG Galaxy is optional, 'cept for MP for some games though.
Ubisoft doesn't even have the balls to make anything exclusive. They just force us to go through an extra layer of suck.
I had no idea, this is even worse than i expected
Are they just trying to make this game fail?
it'll be free to play after a year lmao
I do wonder if they're going to launch on Steam later on.
It's what happened with TES Legends and Quake Champions (albeit with the latter you need to buy either the Champion or Starter packs, but this is because Id wants to wait until it's out of early access before opening the gates further).
The difference is GOG is actually good and the client is useful.
Fuck you. Byethesda.
Imagine if companies did this for physical storefronts.
If this was being made by Obsidian I might've still considered buying it.
I honestly no reason why they should do this instead want to do this as backup website if user doesn't have Steam account.
But make this a only website to login for Fallout 76. This really not helping this problem anyway.
P.S. Video games companies need to stop using .net for search links anymore for multiplayer websites, since this 2018 not 2000s.
Wow another piece of shit software I have to install to play video games.
No thanks.
It isn't shit, it's actually very light weight.
I stopped buying EA games when they forced everything to Origin, and EA has a hell of a lot more IPs and dev studios to make stuff than Bethesda does. Sorry Bethesda, but bigger companies than you have tried.
I got a question about Bethesda.net. Does anybody know if your login username is also what your in game name is? People already took common variants of my name so I have been holding off from signing up.
Regardless it's still really annoying having like twenty different programs for different games, all with different accounts and passwords.
This. I absolutely despise what EA pulled with Dead Space, locking it to Origin after the first and second.
Not losing much, but still.
I just don't understand the problem. It doesn't bother me at all.
I know very little about the intricacies of law but I would argue that US vs Paramount from 1948 would set legal precedent for physical storefronts, as it was the case where Paramount were setting up their own movie theaters that would show only their films. I see that both TV show/movie streaming and digital gaming services heading down a similar path, if not the same one, as compaines start parting ways to get a big cut of that sweet games as a service pie.
Guess I'm waiting till I can get a key for it on the el cheapo.
Bethesda's content servers are absolute wank so ain't going to be paying full price for that less than mediocre service.
My immediate reaction to this was almost good? I feel alone in saying that I'd like for more publishers to move away from Valve's nigh monopoly on the PC market. Yes, I don't want to install any more software just to play a game. Do I think it may be better in the long run? Perhaps.
GOG is great, not saying anything against it. I fuckin' love GOG, since I play old games all the time.
Was just pointing out that you don't need the client. At least I've never had to use it and have never used it as a result.
