Adolf, at that point in life, could never go back to painting - after his mother died, it was a downward spiral.
So Stauffenberg is a hero, but he'd also be called a fascist by the very same people: he and his "followers" were against a democracy in the Reich and he was a pure nationalist. The party that'd most likely fit to him the most (if he were around today) would be the NPD.

I certainly wouldn't call Stauffenberg a coward but he isn't an absolute hero either, we're quick to forget that he showed support for the invasion of Poland and the use of Poles as slave worker, he even agreed with the anti-semitic and racist views of the NSDAP, he only thought it was a bit too extreme.
Trying to kill Hitler was certainly honorable, but I doubt it would have been for the greater good of Europe.

There would probably have been a war even if Hitler was never even born.
The problem was that the Treaty of Versailles was aimed against two of the most potentially powerful nations on the continent: Germany and Russia/USSR. A resurgent German state would almost certainly be militarist and expansionist in nature, same with Russia. The Treaty either should've been harsher or more lenient, in its form it was a half-arsed compromise that benefited no one.
