Fuck this is exactly the sort of anime I've been looking forward to in this day and age
City Hunter was great fun. If you liked it, I strongly suggest Gunsmith Cats, Mad Bull 34, Dominion Tank Police, and Angel Cop.
I'm in, fuck yeah
Is the audio fucked for anyone else? I hear some static when it peeks.
I like when a modern anime has a vaguely 80's or 70's feel to it. Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin and Unicorn come to mind seeing this.
Reminds me of Wicked City

Damn this shit looks slick
For more of these kind of things, I recommend people to watch Megalo Box, which is sort of spiritual remake of Ashita no Joe. It's an underdog boxing story in the future where people are cybernetically enhanced with 'gears', with the main character being an underdog who fights without gears.

It's divisive but it's also artificially 'downscaled' to emulate how 70s/80s anime looked like
i used to love the city hunter anime, it seems a strange show to reboot in 2018 it was a pretty misogynistic show and i think a modern western audience wouldnt be amused at all by the originals humor
It emulates jack shit except shitty early 2000s DVDs, they rendered the thing in 480p even though I can go buy nice sharp 1080p Ashita no Joe BDs right now that look better than Megalo Box ever will thanks to that retarded decision. It's such an idiotic decision that's misguided on every level.
On the topic of 80s manga, there's an adaptation airing right now of an 80s manga called Banana Fish which is quite good and has excellent animation. The setting has been updated to modern day New York rather than the 80s, but the art style keeps a distinctively non-standard flavour.

Probably should check the staff between the originals
I think japan tends to not give a fuck
City Hunter is a really great anime
