Hey all! i'm having an issue with the $selfillium command with GIMP. The Top image is it when it hadn't selected anything, but had the $selfillium in the .vmt

the middle image is it without the $Selfillium Command.

The Bottom image is when i make everything but the Red Transparent, but it makes it a weird Blue and Green Color and Distorts the texture.

Has anyone else faced a similar issue? here's my texture as a .png, and it looks fine. is it GIMP Screwing up?

Selfillum just makes the entire texture glow. Make a selfillum texture consisting of only the red parts over black.
Gimp? Which version? In 2.10 the vtf plugin outputs this broken sh*t (it's broken in a bunch of other important places too). You should downgrade. I did too.
To make the model work as it was, you should use just the wood texture on the plant and use a different material for the red texture, i think it is Umbara_Tentacle_03.dds. The red material could be whether translucent if you greyscale and put this greyscale into in the alpha channel, or you make the material additive using a slightly modified version of this red texture to get the brightness correct.
If you are looking for glowing transparent textures i highly suggest $debug flesh for that, it's a quite interesting thing capable of combining wiht translucency.
ALso, don't forget masking texture with alpha channel to specify what parts of model should glow - you don't have ot even make them red, just tint them.
As for GIMP trouble - just export with VTF edit into tga or png, edit what oyu need, then pack back.
