• rust how to play alone?

when you entered the blue prints - it became very difficult to play, I play with a friend in a double.  If earlier we could easily create ak or bolt, now we need 3 workbench for this, which is very difficult to obtain,  and then when we manage to build it, then our house already destroyed. And we are again overboard with revolvers.  We can not play 24 hours a day, and we do not have a clan of 5 people, there are two of us. Although I'm not a beginner, but you create unequal conditions, a player who has never played rust and now he downloads it -  he will not be happy. Evidence of that recent reviews in Steam when the game was at a discount and it was bought a lot. I have an idea! add the ability to improve the box with tools for example to metal or metal of high quality 2000 HP. to evict a player from home was not easy. I look after the buildings - they became very monotonous
Although I could read most of it, I couldn't understand some parts. "I have an idea! add the ability to improve the box with tools for example to metal or metal of high quality 2000 HP. to evict a player from home was not easy." Are you talking about the Cupboard? I get where you're coming from but if a raider got your TC then all your loot is gone too, plus the raiders now know where to hit you for full profit, IMO just move out (Though I understand moving out isn't that easy as saying it). Soloing is really hard these days, you'd be better off on a solo/duo/trio server, and the scrap isn't even the bad part, indeed the WB's are expensive, but for those who raid as much as they should, it's not that big of a deal. I think one should be able to upgrade existing ones, and also pick them up (Too annoying to need yet another one in another base). BTW any game is bought a lot more in sales rather than not, this isn't evidence of players not being happy after playing it solo or not.
There is plenty of evidence of solo players being frustrated. Solos have been complaining about the game for the past 2 years now. Like you said its best to play on solo/duo/trio servers but i think what we are getting at, is its way too difficult for solos on official servers.
Having only played as solo I can difinatly agree that the game is made in extreme favor of numbers. 1) Blue prints a group really only need 1 of each bp and if they want more its easy to duplicate it. 2) Farming and Fighting is ofcourse in very much favor of group running together any solos will be killed without risk to the group and the solos stuff taken, any good resouces will be farmed with more or less no risk of losing it. 3) Bases do not have to be very much larger to accomodate a group than a solo but they can split the cost 4) Critical items like workbench 1-3 is done very quickly with a group but with groups running around patroling all scrap it is quite difficult for solos to aquire large amounts of scrap. These are just some of the points there are many more things that are way easier as a group like a large furnace being way more effective and needing much less wood to operate. This issue is dealth with in many other games, in PUBG you play solo OR duo OR squad. Ofcourse you don't play solo vs squads (unless you use their special feature for trying that challange) What I would like to see from facepunch is creating "Solo" servers and by solo server I don't mean you have to run around and enforce it, just remove some of the things that favors groups a very easy list of changes for a solo server could be. Changes for a solo server: 1) No code locks only keylocks 2) Tool Cupboard can only have 1 person authorized meaning if somebody else authorize the previous is removed 3) No team system 4) No large furnace (debatable but I still think it favors groups most) These changes should be very minor to implement and would make it much less attractive to play on solo servers as groups.
Official servers are not all fair servers. There's a server called Rustified UK/EU on the official list. It had a full server wipe including blueprints. As soon as it came back online, I was amongst the first 30 or so players. But, some had already had automatic weapons & fully built bases with body armour & all the rest. So, wtf is up with that? Admin favour probably. Then you have servers with a long time between wipes. Like 1 wipe every month. But 1 week before the wipe, they wipe blueprints. Meaning, the players with big bases & stock piled loads of stuff. Can quickly research all the BPs again & when the servers wipe. They're back on top very quickly. Then you have people who build towers overlooking spawn points & constantly snipe at new spawns. This isn't what I expected when I bought this game. But I do play solo on official servers & do well. Problem is, people cheat & raid your base without damaging anything. Almost like they had a key to your doors you never made.
they shouldnt have any benefits over a group. as a solo player i expect to be at the bottom of the totem pole. back in the day you used to be able to play solo on high pop servers and still make some decent progress. now days you cant do much of anything as a solo player. any bases you build will get raided and griefed in a matter of days if not hours. you cant collect any scrap because the roads and monuments are all dominated by clans and you cant even start fresh on a wipe because all of the clans are so territorial in the first few days of wipe you literally cant do anything. its not about skills at all.
whilst groups should have benefits over solos, solos should also have their own benefit. Not really sure what that benefit would be but they could have lower upkeep costs? I now stick only to solo/duo low pop servers as i only do solo. I found that i just cant compete on any level with the scrap farming and upkeep on high pop servers. Sure you can jit some barrels but trying to convert that material into scrap at a recycler and get the scrap home is pretty hard if not almost impossible. Then the 2x2 gets raided and you lose everythung unless you hide it outside the base. How i played alone on a high pop is to just pick my targets carefully and be a vulture. But thats not a lot of fun long term as its always the scraps. and rarely the main meal that you get
I know what you mean. You have people who build bases around key points & just sit & camp waiting for people to show up. I had a full BP of stuff to convert to scrap & I just managed to get myself an automatic rifle. I wasn't running. I did what you should do. Camped the area to see if anyone's around in the bush's. Sat nice & quietly & boom. 1 shot kill. I also had my base raided. I had 5 doors on the first floor to reach the stairs, which lead to up to 2nd floor where my stuff was. It took them all of 10 minutes to bust through the 5 doors, kill me. wipe out my base contents including tool cub. Then build their own doors with locks, preventing me from reclaiming it. Its these sort of players which are toxic to the game. Because you can't beat them & they wait until your either on your own or offline to raid. The game should have base protection when people are offline or make it harder to raid. But, for me I just don't bother playing on most servers with high pop. Because you can't do anything & even after a full wipe. People still have everything.
You have to adapt, period. People can give you so many ways to play solo but ultimately you have to execute. As a solo player since browser I have found success in being very regimented in my patterns. Especially at wipes . What used to take me 40-45 minutes base setup now takes me 1/2 that time. I do get raided but no one gets away with my most valuable Resource at night, crafting by day. Avoid at all cost putting a bullseye on you by building more than necessary;traps are your friend. Avoiding as much confrontation will assure longevity. My KDR is outstanding. Not because I am great at PvP but rather due to limited confrontations and being extremely lucky at my timing. And yea...Luck , you will need a lot of this. btw to the OP....Welcome to Rust
This is a new method to sneak into you base, if you use only keylock. They generate 100 different keys, by putting lock on box, generate key, remove lock, 100 times over, as the game allegedly only knows about so much key-combinations. In real life, there are also only limited key-combinations possible for the same lock-type. Then they load themselves up with keys and try to open your base door. If it not works, they leave to return with the other keys. I saw a video of it on youtube, this method seems to work, and only costs you some wood, no weapons.
This was changed ages ago they now have 1 million combinations.
thats a lot of wood to try and beat it lol
