/vg/ has a picture guide that introduces MH better than I ever could and a Google Doc for FAQs, so have that:

Resources
While World has put in a "resource" in-game to look things up, there are still things you can look at outside of the game, especially for older games. The best wiki-esque resource is Kiranico where you can look at weapons, armors, monsters and what they drop, and much more. Alternatively, there's the program Ping's Dex: https://sites.google.com/site/pingsdex/pingsmh4dex And there's Athena's armor Set Search (ASS), where you can put in a mix of skills that you want from armor/decos, and it'll spit out a corresponding clown set that'll be min-maxed. Honestly though, fashion > min-maxing.

Gaijin hunter has been a good resource for a long while, posting tips and tricks and weapon tutorials as time has gone by. Mostly for 4U and World, though
Shame I already logged in so much time for the PS4 version. I hope we eventually get some kind of save transfer, but I doubt it...
I'm surprised there wasn't a thread already. I was looking for one yesterday.
there was one but it got bumped amd due to the small post count it got auto locked
btw the official twitch confirmed there will be no pre-load for whatever reason (consoles got one.......)
Too soon for me to buy and play MHW again.. all that grinding on the PS4 has got me pooted out. But I am excited for Monster Hunter for the switch, going back to the good'ol flex'n after a drink and all the monsters I'll be able to fight again.
I'm both upset and glad the game launches in 19 and a half hours, I wanted to play at midnight but I think binge-playing it tomorrow at 5 PM onward is much more healthy towards my sleep schedule
I hope it isn't as crashy as some people have been saying.
A lot of the pre-release crashes were fixed in a patch though, it seems.
Where's the preload?
I also wonder what capcom has planned for workshop support. They added the workshop tab on steam, but afaik they haven't announced anything.
There isn't one, apparently.
So if there's no preload, at what time will I be able to download&install it?
I can't find a release timer.

11 AM EST
Don't forget Generations Ultimate comes out for Switch later this month too.
It is a good month to hunt monsters.
Apparently it'll support steam workshop later. Im thinking of getting the PC version simply because I cant see the text on the PS4 in the bedroom TV.
What weapon are y'all going to start with.
I'm excited, only MH game I've played is Freedom Unite. I hope the movement system is responsive.
Does anyone know what the situation is on controllers in the PC version?
im pretty sure it fully supports both ps4 and xb1
im gonna main HBG but probably spread out to way more when i hit end-game just to spice shit up when i join random hunts
Pretty keen for this.
Shame it unlocks at 1am... Going to be a long day of work before a likely weekend binge.
I've always been a GS fan in MHFU, as well as lance. I'll probably start with GS but I've no idea how it will work out.
I've very little experience with the bowguns as I've found them clunky to use and cluttering the inventory. I wonder if I'll be forced to learn to use them.
I've never played a MH game before so I'm not entirely sure yet, but the Gunlance seems pretty awesome.
I found out hammers were fucking amazing in Generations so I'm gonna start with that. Bows do look pretty amazing in MHW though...
Did they ever add the ability to remake your character's face? I need to know how many hours I need to spend making a waifu Big Boss.
They did but it's a limited item called a Grooming Ticket. You get one for free and unfortunately have to pay $3 for a single ticket, and $7 for a pack of 3.
I really hope the PC version can somehow circumvent this with some save editing or some sort (though kind of afraid this will become a risk for banning too).
On PS4 Greatsword, Hammer and Swag axe (all heavy bois) were my go-to since big hits feel so meaty, but I think on PC I'm going to try and leave my comfort zone and go with something like Insect Glaive or Hunting Horn just to mix it up
my personal favourite Switch Axe.
Charge Blade users RISE UP
I don't even know yet because I'm new to Monster Hunter. I will definitely try everything out though.
Monster Hunter World on PC won't boot for users with CPUs that l.. So is this true?
15 minutes bois. Does facepunch have a de facto discord for this or?
Well I guess we're gonna find out in 10 minutes..
If it is true though, I'm fucked. Bought key on Fanatical and already redeemed it on steam
