https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGRHLmBNO_w Can't wait to play this!
All I know is the early access for this game was total garbage. Did it get better?
Gonna give it a week from release to see how people like it. Do hope it's as good as it looks though.
What is the actual gameplay like in this? Last I heard it was a weird open world survival, is that true?
They wrangled some investors and dramatically reduced the procedural generation angle, making it much more narrative based, just like how the original showing at either E3 or PAX showed (can't remember which.)
It feels like it's been a millennia
Honestly, minus very few exceptions that ended up actually being absurdly good, I've seen very few good early access titles at all. The examples are out there, and when they're good, they are good, but I'm not rushing to count them on my fingers.
Looking at it now I'm willing to give it another chance to play.
Some reviews are saying the bigger focus on story and narrative is good, but the survival based gameplay and such is still there in a fashion and sometimes gets in the way of story etc.
Here's a good review for the game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8Y4nqfdoFQ Summary: Visuals are inconsistent, going from really beautiful to kinda cheap in some places. The procedural generation hurts the game in terms of believable environments and NPC world building, with some places just looking either super repetitive or out of place. The voice acting and plot is great, and it's a lot more story-focused compared to the initial impressions it was given, and it does feature 3 playable characters which are played in sequence and once you're done with one character, you move forward to the next without going back to the previous protagonist. Performance issues are present and definitely needs more polish and optimization. The setting, atmosphere and soundtrack are also all good and really sets up the mood, with a very No One Life Forever/Austin Powers feel. Sidequests and story stuff is a strong point. Overall looks like it's worth it on a sale and once they improve on things further, and only get it right now at full price if the setting and plot really really intrigues you and you're willing to look past at its technical faults
A shame, I think the initially release really damaged their sales. They might be able to pull some folks back, but I feel like a sizable portion might had just given up.
Well, Least it's little better improvement (even they put their afford or try throughout game's development) than their first game literally named Contrast. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contrast_(video_game)
Fuck Contrast was a good game though. It was one of the best and most memorable PS4 launch titles. I even get nostalgic for it sometimes.
You'd think someone with almost 500k subs on youtube would have a mic that didn't sound like it was halfway down his throat.
