Tenno
The Tenno are descendants of an ancient and mystical civilization of lost warriors from the Orokin era on Earth. Preserved in cryopods for centuries, the Tenno now awaken to a new war, fighting and resisting warring factions as the sole bearers of the Orokin-created Warframes. While the memories of the Tenno have faded over time, their mastery of guns, blades, and Warframe exo-armor has not.
Fragments of history suggest that discipline and chivalry are the cornerstone values of the Tenno: is this true today? The Tenno are emerging into a world unfamiliar to them. One sees a noble warrior, building his strength against an oppressive regime. Another sees an opportunistic mercenary, exploiting the Warframe's superiority for wealth. Regardless of their future, the Tenno stand united against a common foe, loyal only to each other.

Grineer
Vast in numbers, the Grineer have expanded their vile empire from Earth outward to all sectors of the solar system. Once the Grineer rediscovered cloning technology, they seized control of Earth through sheer numbers.
While they may be at the height of power, the Grineer army is in bodily decay and their features are increasingly primitive as a result of continuous cloning. As such, the Grineer are forced to use technology as a crutch for their genetic deterioration. An ideology of hate and discrimination towards the Tenno continues to drive the Grineer forward in the face of inevitable dissolution

Corpus
The Corpus are a dominating proto-corporation of humans that maintain and operate the trade routes of the Solar Rails. They are rarely seen by others and are better known for the robot proxies that serve for them. The social structure of the Corpus is said to reflect ancient mercantile guilds from the Old Earth. Their production methods blend technology and ritual, in-part, because the ancient Orokin materials they use are inscrutable to them. They control the entire supply chain of goods that flow through the solar system.
The Corpus view Orokin artifacts as resource to be exploited for profit- at any cost.

Funny thing about the colour picker Baro brought, it is 'ColourPickerTwitchBItemA'
@Yummy Pie Baro's inventory stays the same for the duration of his visit. Then next time he'll change it.
Ah alright. I only asked because his inventory this time seemed a bit weak and I've never really paid attention to him before. Thanks.
@Marik Bentusi I wouldn't say Vauban would be good in a tower defense mode even if disable would be more valuable than aoe spam honestly, he's so squishy and can hardly support his own kit's energy costs even on a tiny map. That, and the fact that his first two abilities kinda' suck even for CC'ing purposes. Both Limbo and Khora completely outdo him in terms of CC right now and its really sad.
At least you can have a bit of fun with his jump plates. Just slap them on frost's globe and enjoy enemies' and players' pathetic attempts to get inside the globe.
To address your first two points: I run a Hunter Adrenaline/H Recovery/Arcane Guardian setup on him, so health and energy are relatively easily fixed I think.
As for the tower defense comparison, I think it's important to point out that I wrote "if Warframe was a tower defense game", not "if Warframe had a tower defense mode". If you loaded up a tower defense map and put Warframes into it, you'd instantly break the game by AoE spamming enemies to death or camping their spawnpoint with reliable single-area-CC (Cataclysm, Snowglobe, Khora dome, Gaara Wall, etc). But a typical tower defense game operate by rules that either neuter or remove those options. Instead you win by lacing the enemy's path with all sorts of contraptions. Vauban seems suited to that job, but it doesn't exist in Warframe.
Of course, that would be a very Vauban-specific niche. If we had more demand for CC in general I think he'd already be faring better. He wouldn't be top pick, but at least he might go from "dead" to "sometimes used". But maybe that's just reflective of my own frame usage. Haven't touched Frost, Nyx and Gaara in ages, and I'm not even some minmaxer that only picks the best frame for the job. They all just seem kinda useless to me right now.
So... your point is that if the entire game was warped around Vauban then he'd be playable?
At least he's not as bad as Ember, honestly. But that's a real low bar to set.
My point is that it feels like Vauban's designed to be a solution to a type of problem that Warframe doesn't set its players. To be specific, he feels like a solution to typical Tower Defense Game problems, which Warframe doesn't set.
Maybe this example can help explain myself: Say I'm playing a stealth game and need to get past two soldiers guarding a door. I could lure one guard away by throwing a little rock, then pop a booster that lets me silently sprint right behind him, so that I can choke him out, steal his uniform and ID, hide the body in a dumpster, then use the stolen identity to call off the second guard so I can sneak into the next room. I could do all that, or I could just shoot the two dudes with my silenced tranq pistol. That's way easier, so I'm likely to just keep doing that for the whole game.
Surely there's a different kind of a stealth game in which the more complicated strategy does have its merit, but that other game probably doesn't feature a silenced tranq pistol, or at least such a pistol would be less effective due to rare ammo or such a low rate of fire that I couldn't shoot two guards without one of them raising the alarm.
This conundrum can be resolved by either embracing the Dominant Strategy (cut the complicated gameplay and redirect your efforts to brainstorming some fun tranq pistol upgrades) or by implementing new challenges against which the Dominant Strategy is ill-suited (like sprinkling in some robotic enemies that are immune to tranquilizers). There's also nerfing, but that's rarely on the table in Warframe.
To some extent, embracing the Dominant Strategy makes sense because it's cost-effective. You can't just make the next Warframe a literal Ferrari and build a brand new racing game mode just to let it shine. But on the other hand if you keep the scope of your problems the same, the new solutions you develop are eventually going to feel very samey, until eventually they overlap so much that they cannibalize each other. For example, currently a lot of people are worried that Vlad is just gonna be a better Nyx. CC frames are fighting for a very small niche right now I think, so I'd prefer it if DE crafted new obstacles that would raise demand for previously unused gameplay options, rather than making weird outliers fit the meta.

I didn't even know there was an Acolyte on that node, I just wanted to run a Kuva Flood. :V
You lucky duck. I've got enough Hydraulic Crosshairs to last me a century. I just want Argon Scope ;(
I really want to get back into Warframe but stopped playing right after Kubrows were introduced and WOW a lot has changed.

Not bad, definitely makes me want to use the Penta more often now.

I bought this bad boy off a guild mate a while back for 5 plat, still haven't used it lol.
Nevermind, I remembered why I don't use the Penta anymore lmao
It's one of my most-used weapons. Once you get more used to not killing yourself it can be really effective.
Vauban was THE go to frame for Infested Defense, which was the defacto endgame until Orokin Derelicts became a thing, and that's the problem with "mechanic frames". Whgen your frame is literally geared for specifics enemies and countering scenarios, unless he's op as balls there's going to be problems with an asymmetric agent, all the time, every time. As soon as Zephyr was released and every frame that followed, his days were numbered. The final irony is he's basically tissue paper original build rhino at this point, a gun platform with middling CC and a very hard ceiling, especially when Nidus literally everything he does aside from pads, but five times better and cannot die to anything under 150 when equipped with umbral mods.
He's literally redundant.
I'll give you that. I used to be really good with not killing myself with the Penta when I actually used it a lot. The problem is that it gets tiring having to be extra sure not to do specific things or roll by accident maybe or have a heart attack every time a grenade bounces a strange way.
I think launchers, as a whole, need a rework. In the same vein of beam weapons. Though, I don't expect any changes coming anytime soon, since DE is literally packed with a bunch of shit to do.
I feel like I'm super lucky, I've got 3 argon scopes and 2 maiming mods from the acolyte event so far. I ran 3 runs and got 2 maiming strikes 1 run apart, it was nuts.
I might be addicted to something here

Also, managed to drop blood rush before Torment got blown to pieces and HOLY SHIT what the fuck is this mod. It's not even on max level and it gives me guaranteed orange crits on a 2x combo counter, this is broken.
Yeah I farmed Lua missions a while ago for it and I do no regret it.
Its made me pretty much use melee near constantly.

Time to go into hibernation until more weapons / frames are released
tank nekros is surprisingly fun
makes me want to buy his graxx skin and his ion head, but is it worth it?
Shield of Shadows Nekros is pretty underrated. One of my favorite builds ever.
The Graxx skin is amazing, as most of the Graxx skins are, but I actually personally prefer the Irkalla deluxe.
basically immortal.

Honestly they should replace Vauban's 1 with mini turrets or something. And for his two they need to make it so you hold down the button instead to switch traps, and a quick press to actually launch them.
You can do the second in Controls -> Invert Tap/Hold Abilities. Tho maybe not ideal if you hop between Vauban and Ivara a lot since her quiver feels a bit more clunky with that option enabled IMO.
I kinda doubt they'll go down the turret route. It's been frequently suggested, but after changes to frames like Banshee and Ember I think DE is wary autokill abilities without much interactivity, and turrets doing the work for the engineer is a well-worn (and often disliked) cliché in games by this poin. I don't love Tesla or anything, but if DE pours resources into a rework, I'm sure they can come up with something more interesting. Building fortresses and traps can be a very fun and creative task in games.
They can do whatever they want so long as they leave the bounce pad alone.
Just in case, for people who got twitch prime: Warframe In-Game Loot: Aug 14 – Sept 13
Warframe: Gear Bundle I: It's a 7 days affinity and resource boosters, and 50 plat.
