Not really, many countries domestically manufacture the Mk 80 series of bombs. I know Australia does, so do most of the larger European nations. Japan does, Israel does and I'd be willing to guess the Saudi's do too. They also haven't deomonstrated the code on the fin matches Lockheed Martin.
From like 1776 - 1811
Tell that to the brits
Russia Today as a source...
Considering almost all Saudi equipment is US supplied, I think I could hazard a guess.
They were the cunts then, for shore
Considering a large majority of proxy war engagements are directed by the CIA, we're likely right in assuming we'll never hear about how our bombs were used here.
We also have US ammunition and rifles, SAM systems, ancillary vehicles and radio equipment being used around the world by various rebel groups.
Sketchy? Maybe. Surprising? Not really.
I think the natives would disagree.
Only in movies and videogames
This news isn't so much about Yemen as it is about the United States. It actively tries to make it sound like the US itseld has bombed this bus.
Well no they're saying the US supplied it, which they probably did.
have any society ever been the "good guys"?
Sure, but we all know which way the narrative is pointing towards...
everything is relative. Was the USSR evil for dumping all those guns on the world or because of what it did to people with those guns, is the US evil for supplying all these guns and bombs to people who would use them, the saudis could just as well be using these bombs in defense. Trump loosening our standards for whom to sell to is absolutely bad but there's never a good guy that doesn't profit from their position, and we certainly have before and still do.
You forgot WW2.
Country that buys weapons from another country uses those weapons. Whodathunk?
Yo can I get that reward
Yes. America is tremendously exceptional in world history and we are the closest thing to its 'good guys'. Nowhere has there ever been a system as beneficial to all of its parts as ours.
I didn't knew Donald Trump had facepunch account
Nevermind the part where we only have to do this because we destroyed their democracy in the first place, turning a growing, progressive and secular nation into a backwater theocracy. Totally the good guys right?
or the slaves?
Yes, the good guys. Mossadegh was a left-wing populist who became a dictator over the course of a political crisis related to an oil dispute with Britain, and his nationalization was a sign of an unacceptable relationship to the left and nationalism and therefore the USSR. He would have taken the country in the direction of the non-aligned movement at best, putting it in the same historical pro-Soviet orbit as Ba'athism and preventing the liberalization and economic development which actually lays the foundation for democracy by producing an independent, educated middle class integrated into a Western-led market and therefore its values.
Even Marx saw this as progressive. He was not an "anti-imperialist".
This is just a very verbose way of saying "Mossadegh didn't align with our economic interests so we were justified in overthrowing him in a coup."
Youd probably be wrong. The Mk82 is the equivalent of "great value brand sugar-coated-wheat-crisp-flake cereal". Terry the Tomcat says "They'rrrrrrrrrrew Adequate!
A billion countries use and manufacture them in house and buy them directly from the USA. Now, one big country thats at war in Yemen is Saudi Arabia. Another countrt that buys lots of bombs from us is Saudi Arabia. Put 2 and 2 together and ehats that add up to? Old Man Saudi donit
Principality of Sealand
Ever since you guys through our amazing tea into the sea, you lost the right to call yourselves the good guys. Yeah, the UK has colonialised and oppressed millions and boiled people alive so much that it's now a criminal offence to talk to a stranger on the street, but on the other hand, tea is fucking delicious.
I don't trust Russian propaganda, even if it's the only source. Especially if it's the only source.
Except that happened because the West betrayed them before. Britain secured the rights or Iran's oil for dirt cheap because you can't really negotiate with an Imperial power that's set up within your borders and is closely connected with your local high society. So the left-wing populist was elected because naturally this pissed people off, and he wanted to renegotiate the percentages with Britain. Britain refused, so he announced his intentions to nationalize the oil because Britain doesn't want to play ball. Britain is so terrified that they ask the American CIA to get rid of him and install an authoritarian dictator who will answer to Britain, and so we do exactly that. And we act surprised that Iran fucking hates us.
As ive aged my view of politics has grown, we never were "the good guys" and never will be and thats okay. No society ever is fully good or bad, it doesnt work like that. That doesnt mean we shouldnt always strive to be good or that we cant do good things though.
This is definitely not one of those good things... :-/
