Danish minister of finance and our ambassador to America both slam her with some hard truth bombs.
Our company has two larger clients from Denmark, the scale at which some of these companies operate is insane. There's no denying it's a strong country, she picked the wrong target lol. Also Denmark isn't socialist, wdf
Sorry to various peeps here to who this applies, but anyone who watches Fox news for information is thick as pig shit.
Denmark is pretty socialist, but not in the American all-or-nothing understanding of the word. Healthcare, education and social security is government-paid and very strong here, and taxes work on a semi-equity-ish based system where the more you earn, the bigger percentage you pay which evens out inequality somewhat.
Fox News incapable of understanding that Europe is doing just fine with its socialism thankyouverymuch, more at 11:00. this is what you get when your ideology is just scapegoating broad swaths of things bad without any underlying critical thought.
Fox News is pretty much on the level of North Korean propaganda. It needs to be removed for the USA to return to normalcy.
It's a strong capitalist economy which can afford good social & welfare programs, so yes it's more akin to a social democracy than a socialist country. I agree though that the term socialist isn't understood the same way everywere.
according to Pragger University just putting democratic in front of the world doesn't change the fact that its blanket communism. Because that's where we are in the US
We're a social democratic country, which means socialism to those people
Isn't that social democracy instead of socialism though? I remember there was a thread about this before where I was confused on this.
It's very entertaining to watch right-wing voices in the traditional news media and alternative media completely lose their shit over Bernie Sanders continuing popularity and Ocasio-Cortez's rise. You can tell that they are genuinely worried by how much their social democratic message is resonating. These are the same people who called a plan to force people to buy services provided by private companies "socialism". If the Overton window could be moved any further to the right people like the woman in OP would be talking about how social security is a Marxist pyramid scheme.
Every time people complain about CNN I think of stuff like this. Fox News is downright scary.
CNN is bad and I wouldn't recommend anyone using it as a primary source but they aren't an outright propaganda outlet like Fox News is.
CNN is regular bad, Fox News is advanced bad.
Lmao this Venezuela argument is getting old
its a huge myth about scandinavian countries being "socialist". In many ways they freer markets than the US does, ironically. its also a myth that socialism just inherently doesn't work. If this were true, the US and allies wouldn't have felt the need to wage desperate economic warfare as well as espionage and political sabotage on socialist countries, as they continue to do today to countries that refuse to play ball, like cuba and NK. If these countries were just so predictably doomed, why engage in all that rather expensive and not to mention absolutely criminal nonsense?
"56% federal tax rate" Oh, I love this argument. I don't know how much what I'm about to say applies to Denmark, but we get similar bullshit arguments tossed our way in Sweden. "Of course you can afford free health care, your government taxes you 60%!". lol, no we don't, not generally. Here's how taxes work in Sweden; If your income is ~49,000 USD a year, you are taxed roughly 25-30%. This does not include EITC reductions which can bring it down to 21-28% If your income SURPASSES ~49,000 USD a year, you are taxed an additional 5% on income past that ceiling, additive up to a second ceiling of ~73,000 USD. Essentially, your average Svensson getting by on an average salary won't be taxed much higher than 30-35%. The only people who "suffer" from a high tax singe is the upper elite, those close to or above 7-digit salaries (in Swedish Krona).
You guys need to do something about FoxN or your country is fucking doomed, how many people tune in everyday and eat that shit up?
The US also loaned a crapton of money to Yugoslavia, so that's not entirely true. And Yugoslavia was basically on the road to eventual bankrupcy all the way back in the 60's, even though it is considered one of the most succesful socialist countries of its time. There's no doubt that socialism has political and economic holes in it that are very problematic.
It's the biggest cable news network in the US, 81% of households that have cable have access. It was originally going to be called GOPTV and was made so a future Nixon (Trump) would have the public support/cult not to resign.
Wow that's a pretty frightening number. Get out while you still can, I retract my statement you're already doomed.
TBH that second part may be hearsay, heard it from Elix I believe. Hey if Fox creates a second Nazi Confederacy no problem crushing the rebel scum again.
No, it's not hearsay. It is actually the history of Fox News. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Ailes Ailes was the media consultant for Nixon. He and Murdoch explictly created Fox News to prevent a Republican President from looking bad in the public eyes to the point they'd have to resign. It was created to safegaurd against what Nixon had just gone through.
Said that since I didn't see anything about it in Fox's wikipedia article, alrighty then. Pretty disturbing
Fox's Wiki page has clearly been edited to remove a number of factual events But no ones really scraped through Ailes's page yet, and he's about as bad as it gets.
According to literally everyone in america if you have "universal healthcare" or "livable wages" you're a socialist country.
The problem with modern news networks is that they've all taken sides in an effort to destroy the opposite political party. You have to take everything with a grain of salt, these days.
