PAYSON, Utah - A Utah man flew a small plane into his own house early Monday just hours after he had been arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife in a nearby canyon where the couple went to talk over their problems, authorities said.
The pilot, Duane Youd, died. His wife and a child, who were in the home, got out and survived even though the front part of the two-story house became engulfed in flames, Payson police Sgt. Noemi Sandoval said.

even more surprising is it was a proper private jet, not like a cheap and light 2 man cessna like I was expecting.

Judging by the car, and how absolutely flattened the wreckage is, he likely came down at a steep angle (also probably at a slow speed to work on his aim while descending) and fucking pancaked into the lawn, with only enough forward momentum to push the nose into the building

I get the feeling if he was going slow enough to only just get the nose touching the front, his intention might not have been to just suicidally fly it into the house.

it's not 'slow' that's the factor there, it's 'down'. He could still have been doing 100+ knots but landed short on soft dirt, hard enough that the body just gripped the terrain as it crumpled under the momentum
