This selfie craze should honestly die, I was recently at the Scottish Regimental Memorial Chapel in Edinburgh and some people were more concerned with getting a good looking picture than actually being respectful and just taking in the environment.
I mean, what's weong with that if they're enjoying themselves and not getting in the way of others?
I don't really think that there's an invalid way to have a good time so long as you aren't preventing others from doing the same.

No but I want them to do it in appropriate place, a Memorial Chapel commemorating the lost men, women and service animals of Scottish Regiments in both world wars is not the place to do it.
A selfie is not really about documentation but more for showing off. There is no need to put yourself in a picture you take after all

Nothing wrong with taking a picture of yourself, great way to associate better with the memory you're trying to capture. Like unless you guys are talking about selfie sticks or what ever (which require a bit of care towards to people in your immediate surroundings), and that I'm misunderstanding what your grievance is.....
I personally wouldn't call "beating the crap out of people just to take a picture" healthy or fun. Some people act as if they were actually crazy over this stuff.

People like to say "look, I was here". A picture of the grand canyon is nice an all, but it's really not that special or different from all the other 10,000,000,000 images you can find online unless you're in it with your friends or family. People have been taking pictures of themselves since they invented the camera.
or just take a picture from a distance that isn't a selfie.

I was there about a month ago. There were so many people that I didn't even bother taking a picture of the monument, somebody has probably taken a better one and I can get it off the Internet. Really weird how they would even think about fighting there, you walk past army men near every monument, they look pretty mean with their big guns.
I just want selfies to die period.
