Should I host a Rust server? Is it worth it? Is it profitable? and which game host server site is the best and the cheapest?
Looking for answers cause I'm thinking about it
Please don't make a thread with such a non-descriptive title.
As for your issue, I suppose it can be profitable. If you're willing to spend money and work every day on it.
Beast and cheapest ?? Lol... Profitable ?... Just don't....
Hosting a server well isn't as easy as you might think.
It isn't a case of just downloading a heap of mods and your server pop is at max, and they are putting donations in your pocket.
It takes a lot of work. One admin for a server isn't enough if you want to compete with the good ones. Admin needs to be available and seen regularly.
Maybe because I avoid them but I don't think the "pay to win" servers do very well.
My advice is if you want to host a server then do a small map with a small population.
Host I on your own PC to avoid spending money you might regret later on.
Don't over mod your server. Some owners think that the more mods the better but it really has a detrimental effect after the first week of the wipe. Players have it all and get bored, moving on to something more challenging.
Don't, and I repeat DONT spawn things in for players.
And the big one. If someone accuses a player of cheating you have to spend the time and effort to investigate it.
If you do decide to pay to have your server then I would suggest looking at the popular servers and see who does their hosting.
When you get it up and running post the details on the forum I would love to take a look.
Good luck!
As stated above.
But in my honest opinion, you'll find this very challenging unless you're a popular YouTuber/Streamer with a big following, or if you have a group of friends willing to help you out/play on your server. Sure, making the server itself is easy, but getting a steady consistent playbase will take a very long time. The market is already inflated with old & well-known servers making your chances very slim.
Thanks for the replies boys especially Vixen your right, and yes MasterBB everyone has a server so the chances of getting players are slim, But Imma ask you another question, Can I host a dedicated server and portforward it without spending money but it will need a good hardware, right?
Yes you can do that, but I would recommend having at least 16GB of RAM to do it. It should be doable with 8GB and a low-pop server and small-size map, but it could still be rather tight.
Don't we all like it that way ;)
You could host it yourself, but it isn't recommended; Unless you have your own server rack.
it takes long to get up to a good server that people will play on
