A few months ago I finished my 3 year quest studying design at university, now i'm trying to get more active in this section so I thought i'd share my final project with you guys! I also recently got my final grade for the three years, and with this 80 credit project getting a score of 81/100 I managed to snag a First (A+) Overall, which i'm really happy about!
Introducing The Glitch! A project based around an old concept that I came up with at the beginning of my "professional" art journey years ago when I began studying at college. The Glitch is the story of scout drone lost on a distant planet, with the connection to the mother ship lost it wanders the land becoming ingrained in the world. I try not to give too much background info on the project as being a designer I would like it to come through in the actual pieces.
The first main part of the project is the articulated action figure, scaling with Figma action figures (because it uses the same joints) it sits at around 18 inches, designed to be taller than most humans in this scale. The figure has approx 18 points of articulation with a wide range of movement. It also comes with accessories such as the sword and an articulated wire cape, as well as hands that can be swapped out for more dynamic poses. The figure was created in Cinema 4D then printed through the university's 3D printer which gave me a chance to learn more about 3D, something I've always been interested in as my main draw to this forum was modelling/mapping for Gmod. It was my first time using model paints and I'm really happy with how it came out. Black wash fuckin rules.

Next is the animation, this was made to compliment the figure and tell it's story, inspired by old cartoons that where made exclusively to sell a set of toys such as Transformers or Thundercats. The animation is meant to be the Prologue of The Glitch's story, with the action figure representing The Glitch after it had spent some time on the planet. This was made in Adobe Premiere with images made in illustrator, using premiere purely because I already had experience in it and didn't want to spend time learning After Effects with the amount of work I already had. The short also gave me a chance to do sound design which I had never done before, ripping sounds from Half Life and various sound websites to cobble together something that worked well. Sadly towards the end it needed to be rushed, making the final scene noticeably choppy and simple.

The final piece was created as I wanted there to be a piece based more in general design, making a piece of packaging that could fit on a shelf so I could show I could do front end design, as well as illustration and animation. This was fun to do as I'd never seriously looked into product design but found I could implement everything I had learned through design and illustration to create something that worked well for the purpose.

And that's it for the project! There are smaller pieces such as the logo and the photographing process, but these where all means to an end to be used on the three larger pieces! If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask, there's a lot of information I didn't write down purely because it doesn't effect the final project.
Thanks for reading and sorry for the long post, Facepunch's image posting leaves a lot to be desired!
