I really hope Sony stops being such a silly bitch and actually decides to allow crossplay on everything. This policy of theirs is abysmal.
Good. Fuck Sony.
I'm glad Bethesda is taking this stand, now that it's been proven cross-platform play is possible and not a problem with servers/software or anything like that the barrier needs to be taken down. Something tells me Bethesda has done a lot of research and found they'll make way more money if cross platform play is enabled.
All devs should make this a thing tbh
Good. Consoles should exist for the sake of games, not the other way around.
Was it the rocket league devs who enabled PS4 crossplay on accident? There's no excuse.
GG Bethesda.
I don't see why developers should be beholden to platform holders. If only more developers had the spine to tell sony to fuck off.
I'm assuming it was server/game side, allow connections from the different console.
I wonder if it's like, a new rule where Bethesda have to make one good decision and one awful decision to balance it out, as this is surprisingly cool of them to do, but then I remember them screwing that guy over a few weeks ago who just wanted to sell a used game.
It's happened on both RL and Fortnite.
Todd wills it.
Still waiting to be able to use my PC originated Epic account on my Switch, which is locked out still because I played it a couple of times on PS4
Unlinking it from your PS4 account doesn't work?
No it's permanent
you can unlink it but you lose all progress iirc.
lose all progress purchases and everything from your epic account l o l
ya theres NEVER been ANY software or hardware barriers preventing cross platform play.. ever.
Literally always been Sony being monopolistic.
nah
These are all money decisions, one out of three happens to be in the consumer's favor purely by happenstance.
Sony needs to get hit with an anti-competitive lawsuit tbqh
But if Sony don't negotiate and decline to stock the game, does that not mean Bethesda loses money?
Yes, which is why this is all happening now well before launch, and with a spin off, so that by the time 76 and TES launch Sony has been conditioned to either lose pick up sales and royalties on 30 million unit selling games or get with the fucking program. Japan's console market has been limp as fuck aside from very singular titles like persona, they need to get with the rest of the globe if then intent to enjoy the renaissance of japanese devs getting love (and money) again.
Makes you wonder if the "accidental" crossplay enabling was really an accident, or to wake up us sheeple to the fact that its possible and perfectly fine.
Yeah, maybe their blood thirsty legal team can do some good for a change.
I really wish we could all just play together, instead of being divided by arbitrary walls.
Who would think it was impossible?
There's several PS4 games with crossplay already, so obviously there's no inherent problem in having it or extending it.
TBH I hope Sony realise that some developers might decide "fuck it" and ignore PS4 ports altogether whilst they behave like cunts, after all they stand to lose by making alternative consoles look more attractive.
Overall, it doesn't work. Trust me, I tried and had to make a alt account as a result.
Having all games be crossplay would be a nice future. Imagine games having 2/3 times the playerbase.
Never said anyone would think its impossible, it used to be very hard on old architecture due to the differences in design, and from people I know, that stigma carries on because Sony wants you to keep believing that. They only really had it click when games were "accidentally" made to enable crossplay.
Great, now they just got to stop suing people for selling brand new unplayed/unopened games
That's not even what happened. They just didn't want some guy to privately sell a game as "new" as they couldn't guarantee it was in mint condition and safe for consumers. He didn't get hit with a lawsuit.
eh, fair enough they didn't sue - but still not great behaviour from a company like this. Whats it got to do with them if they can't establish if it's new or not. The dude wanted a sell a game in it's original packaging, you gonna tell me it's not "new" just because it's not on the shelf? When does it stop being "new" ? When the consumer buys it? When the store buys it? when it leaves the shop? when it leaves the warehouse?
So many problems with trying to justify saying what you're saying.
