Full headline: Rudy Giuliani Claims Facts Are 'In the Eye of the Beholder,' Calls Trump the Most 'Honest' President in History https://www.newsweek.com/rudy-giuliani-trump-facts-honest-1073965?utm_source=Public&utm_medium=Feed&utm_campaign=Distribution
“Facts are subjective. Trump’s innocent, and I piss Fruit Punch.”
https://youtu.be/W0tQHgV_QVE Distressingly relevant
He's right but for all the worst fucking reasons.
Haha! How terrifying!
I gotta wonder what kind of wild shit Giulani is hiding under his rug to not only go to bat for Tinyhands but to be this batshit nuts about it I worry about the future, I worry about all the precedents this last election cycle has set
I'll say one thing for Cohen, at least he knew when to keep his fucking mouth shut.
Theyre not lies only alternative facts ok
That and he knew to record Trump, lmao the dude really played it safe
And so Giuliani continues his TV-publicized spiral into the depths of senile dementia.
How very subjectivist of him. It's amazing how the far right and the far left both share a foundational metaphysical philosophy which elevates the subjective to primacy
I don't understand how people like this, with lengthy legitimate careers and "clout", keep insisting on ruining their lives by coming to Trump's aid. What could possible make this worth it?
The unfortunate reality is that people like Giuliani and other surrogates aren't ruining their lives by doing this. They're setting themselves up for lucrative positions such as conservative lobbyists or Fox News contributors.
Seems like ol' Rudy doesn't know how facts work.
With each day that passes, I'm more and more convinced Rudi is just an IRL shit poster that's got totally out of hand but is on a roll, so is constantly trying to one-up themselves
Fox News has been conditioning the Conservative base to selectively reject reality for twenty years. To over 30% of the American citizenship, what they feel should be true matters more than what's actually true.
Good attempt at false equivalency but no. The far left demands dramatic social reform in line with the present crises we are facing, which include: total lack of proper healthcare, historic income inequality, rampant political corruption and the foundations of fascist oligarchy, scientific illiteracy, starvation wages, and a dearth of human empathy. Many of these problems have been exacerbated by, if not directly caused, by an increasingly irrational and theocratic far right which rejects an evidence-based approach to politics in favor of corporate propaganda which numbs and distracts them from the very problems they aim to solve. Instead of moving to publicly-funded elections, they demand partisan authoritarianism. Instead of higher wages, they demand deregulation and the dismantling of unions. Instead of reducing emissions and investing in sustainable energy, they demand more coal and oil. Instead of worker retraining and aggressive reindustrialization, they demand trade wars. Instead of joining forces with marginalized communities to fight back against their common enemies, they demand the deportation, denaturalization, and terrorization of immigrants. And most importantly, they reject the fundamental merits of social democracy, preferring a rugged individualism that privileges the very rich at the expense of everyone else - including themselves. The ideology of the American Right has been poisoned beyond repair. The Republican Party is no longer a party of economic conservatism, but instead a far right cabal of fascist oligarchs who throw a few culture war bones to their useful idiots every now and then while feasting on the wealth of the middle and lower class. There is no "far left" counterpart to this monstrosity; it exists outside of political partisanship.
I guess if the multiverse theory is true, it was just a matter of time that the entire administration would go senile at once in one of the timelines. Guess we're the lucky ones.
Are all politicians from New York this fucking terrible?
If facts are subjective, then that should be true for the field of physics too, right? Wait, what do you mean I can't set ice on fire? Whaddya mean physics doesn't work like that? It's all subjective, right?! You said so! /s Seriously though, Giuliani is a goddamned moron.
actually
Bernie Sanders was born in Brooklyn
When will this post-factism end? Couldn't I just steal Giuliani's TV and if he tries to sue me I can just say 'It's your opinion that I stole something, the way I see it I was just moving some electronics from point A to point B"? How about if some dude shot Trump? "He didn't murder Trump, I was just emptying my gun magazine and he happened to stand in the way for some reason." Let me guess, though, facts are only an opinion if it's beneficial to call it that.
I think this is key here. Most people involved in current day politics understand how insane this all is, it's just they also understand they can use this to cash some hefty cheques. The problem is that this is a very rich and powerful few making the world become a total dumpster fire to become slightly more very rich and powerful. This doesn't just apply to the Trump administration either btw, it's worldwide.
the rich must defend their own. Look at the SCOTUS pick, you see all these scholars coming out of the woodwork saying how he's a good guy, and acting totally ignorant of the circumstances of his nomination or anything to do with a lifetime of cases that he will decide on. Ya I don't fucking care that he graduated from your almamater and is a nice guy to grill burgers with he's gonna be a horribly right winged judge.
"Eh, theft isn't a crime. Not to me. Not if I'm doing it. And just that's a fact. And if I say it's not a crime, then that means you can't book me. Because hey: It's all subjective, ri-ight? ;)"
Not sure what's more disgusting; that this sort of mentality is being pushed by politicians and the like in the US, or that there's a large subset of Americans who agree with it.
I think it's just a development of how they already think, but given a name because they get to see the limelight now. They used to keep to themselves, but now we have a President who makes them feel validated so they came out of the woodwork to see the world and "alternative facts" is their response to reasonable human beings explaining why the things Fox has told them to believe are wrong.
I saw a weird article on Politico from a liberal woman lawyer who argues cases before the court on why Kavanaugh is a good pick. What was weird what that she said she didn't know where he stands on Roe v. Wade but he's a really kind guy and the most qualified conservative. Presidents pick at least two so here's hoping they impeach Trump after Kermit is confirmed as he's no longer useful.
