The bill allows intersexual people to register their gender as "divers," which translates roughly to "miscellaneous" or "other," and would come into force by the end of the year. Until now, people in a similar situation could only register without a gender.
Most sites that I've known have done this as a standard for a while. Not always "other", but I've seen options where you don't have to disclose.
Begin intersex has biological reasons.
Diners, drive-ins and divers
biology is a lot more interesting and complicated than what they taught you in school.
Well, that picture kind of looks like an attack helicopter if you look hard enough.
this shit was never funny and just makes you look like an asshole btw
You know there's something i never got about this joke. Cause one you're joking about someone being a fucking ATTACK HELICOPTER

Like if bigots want to shit on the LGBT community and the idea of Gender Labels. Try not to compare them to some of the most badass shit looking imaginable.
How can it even matter to you tho?
Like, I never got this. The core argument for gender not equaling your biological sex seem to boil down to that gender is what you feel like but sex is what you physically are. Why would you need to categorize what you like and what kind of person you are? Who cares if you are a man who likes feminine things or dressing in dresses or whatever and vice versa. And I really don't get this argument because it kinda goes against body dysphoria in trans people, why would they feel like they don't belong in their own bodies and want to transition if gender and sex don't correlate?
Did some of you people even read the article? This law is specifically about intersexual people - it's partially in response to one person with an x chromosome but no second chromosome trying unsuccessfully to change their gender from female to a third option.
Well I guess they sorted out a problem of a very small amount of the population then. I don't see how this will ruin anyone's day at all, as long as it stays within this usage and doesn't stray into pseudoscience.
There are as many genders as you want because they're self-chosen and we literally just make it up as we go along. It doesn't really mean anything except for self affirmation/self respect and being treated right (imo).
I'll go further and say sex being split into two categories is unscientific and a social construct as well because we can have attributes (chromosomes, what someone looks like, their capabilities) and we can't actually neatly fit "men" and "women" into two separate and exclusive categories without:
putting women who give birth and lived their whole lives as women and trans women into the "men" category with an "it's all in the chromosomes" explanation.
putting infertile women into the "men" category because we used the "can give birth" explanation.
putting AFAB into the "men" category because she looks like one (some women look manly).
There are so many things that play into it like hormones which in dogs can make females act like males and other chemicals at different points in our lives that can affect what our bodies do/look like.
Feminists and trans people always beat TERFs when it comes to defining "woman" because the question can't get the neat solution that TERFs would like to have to justify their genocidal bloodlust.
It's too early to say what our new definitions should be but the old definitions for sex are pretty much dead!
also it's up to us to treat others as their gender id and that's true regardless of biology
They're not dead because of a handful of chromosome abnormalities. The current definitions of sex work for 99 percent of the population, and that isn't going to change as long as the number of people born with atypical chromosomes remains tiny.
You're admitting gender as a social construct if you're arguing that the reality of minorities existing doesn't matter on account of the majority not needing a more refined definition.
When did I say gender wasn't? I was arguing against sex being a construct too, as the member I was responding to was claiming.
So you're going to just ignore the existence of intersex and other individuals with nonstandard chromosome pairs? You seem to be arguing that society shouldn't acknowledge such individuals in law, as with the news story here.
Nah. The german decision to introduce a third gender option is a good thing. I'm only arguing that they shouldn't go and toss "male" and "female" into the wastebin alongside this decision, which is what the other member seemed to be arguing.
Like, I don't get that whole "let's make up genders to feel better about yourself". To me it comes of as people being too insecure of who they are and their personality that they need to name and categorize it instead of just enjoying being themselves for who they are. In general I don't get the obsession of naming and categorizing everything, especially when it comes to such hard to defined things as who you are as a person.
I've been hearing this joke for at least a decade, get some new material.
You don't get it so instead of asking the five(s) of people that make up genders you just assume it's insecurity? That doesn't really make much sense.
I don't get why it bothers people that much tbh. Unless you've hit the jackpot you're going to end up meeting so few of these people where living in the middle of nowhere and being worried about a terrorist attack makes more sense.
I wonder if it was started by right wingers trying to discredit stuff like this.
I'm personally not convinced that I should believe in any more than two genders. I'm fine with legal recognition of more than one gender because it doesn't affect me so why should I prevent someone else from doing something that makes them feel better about themself, but personally I think there's just two
Do you guys thing that the prevalence of masculine & feminine traits in practically every society is indicative of the predefined traits that have existed for millennia?
I understand a third option, have as many as you want and in grateful for this ruling in Germany but when it comes to the medical there is literally only three.

Maybe it's less the actual joke and more-so the intention, as in to be overtly edgy and offensive, which is usually obnoxious especially when it's meant to "trigger those goldern libtards".
no it's just that it isn't fucking funny.
