Kinda easy to forget that Afghanistan is still at war.
For the past 30-40 years.
Afghanistan has known nothing but war.
Okay, I should have said more specifically: "It's easy to forget that the current administration of Afghanistan, formerly known as the Northern Alliance, is still at war with the Taliban"
Ever since ISIS became a thing it’s easy to forget the Taliban are still out there and are a threat.
Only a very local threat. I don't think Taliban has been responsible for a single terrorist attack outside the Afghanistan-Pakistan region.
Good on these guys. Honestly must be rough being in the Afghan army, more so than many armies. Corruption in the gov and army, threats from within and without, ethnic conflict, constant fear of terrorism, IEDs, ambushes, poor supply/equipment situation, limited prospects for pension etc. Hospitals are mega far apart there.
