• Gmod Sneezed on Unity WebGL

I got this fantastic idea to make a small webgl project with unity and use it as a loading screen while connecting to the server in gmod. Except that... u know... https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/283680/e2ae184f-bbd7-4233-ab14-8115c232de5b/Screenshot (35).png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/283680/2e05c7c8-94b6-48ee-b375-4dc90c11f6ba/Screenshot (36).png XD It seams that gmod doesn't support that. So does anyone know why it doesn't? I'm intrigued. And oh btw, was feeling a bit hungry, so I used this demo to test it out :P http://alteredqualia.com/three/examples/webgl_pasta.html
Try to test it in the chromium branch, instructions on how to switch branch can be found here: Dev Branch (just make sure to pick chromium instead of dev) The "why" is a long story, gmod is using a very outdated browser which can't be upgraded yet for technical reasons. This has been the case for years, it's about to change soon with the development of a 64-bit version of gmod (see: 64-bit Garry's Mod) but for now we're still stuck with the old browser. The chromium branch has the new browser that we will be able to switch to once the 64-bit thing is out of the way.
I've tried switching to the chromium branch, and it didn't work. On the bright side I did get a different notice this time :P https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/283680/53c22bf8-bc96-49ad-b970-fd6dde104e01/Screenshot (41).png
Maybe it was deliberately disabled. Ask Willox, if you dare.
you mean like you made a game inside the loading screen? if yes, and this works, that would be the best shit ever. Loading for ages in darkrp servers, people would buy this nonstop for their servers
Well, It doesn't have to be a game. Since you don't have input in loading screens. I was thinking more of a more engaging one. But yeah you can also play games if u open it up in a DHTML Panel... well, theoretically :P

I believe webgl (and hardware rendering in general) was disabled in the chromium branch for performance reasons.
Anyway, input is disabled, it would be great ofc I remember willox showing us a webgl demo running quake pretty smooth, but if this is a performance hit for something that we possibly won't use, then it's okay for me
Yeah, that's what I thought. It's the makes total sense of why it would be disabled. Haha, reminds me of Will it Run DOOM. If it's 2 heavy then yeah, this might impact the user experience, and will make ur pc a bit sweaty. But since u've seen a demo where quake runs smoothly, then this can be a nice feature. It's just content creators should be aware of what they make can affect the performance, and server owners should keep that in mind 2.
