Ukrainian Iryna, 38, survived the terrorist attack on Drottninggatan but was forced to amputate her right leg. "When Stefan Löfven got to the hospital, he promised to do his best for me," she says. Now she and her daughter are expelled from Sweden. She went to Åhléns to buy a keyring for her then twelve-year-old daughter Sofiia. It was April 7, 2017. 38-year-old Iryna saw the truck for a second before it hit her. The sound of the bang resembled nothing she had heard before. It sounded like the thunder of a roaring train. She saw people running in panic. It was a chaos. She heard: "Terror". After the attack, Iryna was in hospital for three weeks for emergency care and had several surgeriess. Her right leg could not be saved and had to be amputated below the knee. In the hospital she was visited by Prime Minister Stefan Lövfen. He promised to do his best for her. In Iryna's journal from Karolinska University Hospital, it is stated that Löfven and the trauma management have decided that she will receive rehabilitation in Sweden until she receives her prosthetics. Scarcity on English sources for now, but the story is verified in Swedish newspapers and I found one decent English source. Surprisingly hasn't showed up in TheLocal yet. Sweden expels Ukrainian woman, survivor of Stockholm terror atta.. Iryna överlevde terrordådet i Stockholm – utvisas | Aftonbladet For reference, this is not the first time the Migration Board royally fucks up. There are instances of people who have lived here for 12+ years, people who own businesses and pay taxes, people who follow the law and live here peacefully, and STILL get kicked out. Meanwhile, of course, the actual terrorist who committed the attack is sitting in prison on tax-payer money on a life sentence, which in Swedish terms mean an undetermined amount of time. THEN he gets expelled - unless, y'know, he dies in prison. So that's swell.
Unfortunately stories like these are far too common, I just wish that the Office of Immigration would get their shit together for once and start deporting people that serve little or no use to society, such as criminals. We already have a housing crisis but it's not going to get better if you deport good citizens that actually pay their taxes and contribute to society.
we have SOOOOOOO many criminals from all around the world who just gets let into the country and they chose to deport this woman instead of them?? I seriously think Sweden is a country where the goverment is too scared to force legal action on criminals. it is pathetic
I have a strong feeling from Swedish users that their media has a sort of propaganda labelling all criminals as immigrants.... 🤔
no, our media paints all immigrants as saviours and saints come to spread growth and cultural pride in sweden instead of unbiased, factual reporting. as an immigrant living here i find the way media paints "us" and by us i mean all non-eastern europeans immigrants as these fucking beacons of hope, pride and joy.
Depends on what you consider media, there's definitely a lot of propaganda to that effect, but from what I've heard it's generally fringe online stuff rather than major networks.
Similar stuff happening in the Netherlands. People who came here illegally ages ago. It’s especially sad because often they have kids who were born here and are basically Dutch. And they’re being sent off to a country that is completely foreign to them. I don’t care that it *might* encourage more illegal immigration if they’re allowed to stay, it’s cruel and we need to stop doing shit like that.
Not always a great idea. Deport them and they can regroup and organize. Then when they come back they're an even bigger pain in the ass
We still have border controls.
