Figures, nobody wants to deal with that kinda shit and they surprisingly figured that out before the inevitable shitstorm of a launch.
This could potentially mean that Fallout 76 is going to be one of those "Play Anywhere" games where buying it on PC gets it on Xbox and vice versa.
How is this any better though? I don't really mind it being on Bethesda's launcher mind you, but Microsoft Store, really? That thing is a piece of shit.
They pussied out of their garbage service just so they could go to something just a little less shit. Baby steps, I guess.
I would much rather use Bethesda.net than the Windows Store to be honest
Microsoft store is worse than Bethesda.net.
That more like double down on putting it on shitty stores not backing down.
I would bet they're doing this more because of their close relationship with Microsoft, rather than because of the backlash to not being on Steam.
“Fine, either use our launcher or a worse one.” brilliant
This is clearly a Microsoft play, probably a play anywhere and cross play. Pretty obvious
Read the title and it was cut off, thought that they were going to release it on steam. Gave me a good chortle to see Microsoft store.
They said a few weeks back its not coming to steam at all iirc
This isn't exactly the microsoft store, by the looks of it https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1755/4b41acd7-a186-4720-9a75-6b61a63fbc49/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1755/c722e6c2-ef38-4c2b-8191-9aec51c78393/image.png Left, F76, Right is a generic application you can actually buy on windows stores Here's the kicker, Microsoft sells DISC games https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1755/364705c3-203d-4455-ad8e-94a58aa0d5de/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1755/4631f020-ce51-4198-bdb1-66ac60c1ecc5/image.png Battlefield? Cod? These are titles that have their own launchers etc. And hey, Fallout's there, the same link as the one in the OP The article is full of shit
sounds more like the check from micro$oft cleared instead of them responding to valid criticism of their business practice.
Using Windows update to support it has its ups and downs. Enabling p2p can speed up downloads and they even can start updating before you login... Both can be positive or negative
Still don't get why they just don't do an Ubisoft if its just cause of getting updates out faster. Sell game via steam, have it start up Bethesda.net and have it update with Bethesda.net. I mean, thats how most F2P games behave too, why not a paid game.
Yeah personally I don't mind developers having their own launcher but it's going to really bug me having literally every other Fallout game on Steam except 76 if I even end up getting it lol
Bbbut downloading and running yet another client??
I don't mind downloading more launchers when they're decent. Bethesda.net and Windows Store are not decent.

or it just hasn't quite hit clientside yet??
Steam takes a 30% cut so I don't blame them for wanting to sell exclusively on their platform.
I mean, that the obvious reason, but they make it sound like having it update their own thing since steam might not update it fast enough.
I mean, it at least provides good download servers...
Bethesda finally steps down from shooting F76 in the foot and shoots it in the knee instead.
It's really not though? I've never had a problem with it downloading the few things I've gotten it since I've got Windows 10, mostly microsoft exclusives like Halo Wars 2. It sounds like people are just hating it because it's cool to hate it.
I know, but the title could conclude otherwise if it said steam, which would be a good assumption considering the outcry.
steams cut is negotiated with the publisher and is not always 30% you also have to consider that valve foots the bill for payment processing fees, storage server fees, bandwidth fees, the technology to have proper delta updates, and more. instead bethesda is going to have to eat these costs and likely have less deals than Valve has for Steam, so it'll cost them a small fortune for a single game. not to mention vastly inconveniencing a ton of customers just for a marginal gain on their part, I'm willing to bet they're losing out by excluding Steam as well as other game platforms that arent shit.
That's actually very funny, they backed out with the most hilarious result.
