Cool video, as always, but I think he was a bit misleading in saying that animals these days need less energy due to being smaller, as mammals need approximately 10x the amount of calories for the same volume due to how mammals use a lot of energy for keeping their bloody to the right temperature. Reptiles can and do grow to far larger sizes than mammals could because of this fact. The trade-off is that reptiles become very sluggish in cold temperatures.
I should point out that some people have suggested that dinosaurs may have been warm-blooded, or at least not cold-blooded in the same way as modern reptiles, but it's really difficult to determine this sort of thing without some flesh, and it's a bit late for that.
