Although I absolutely love Coraline to death, and agree wholeheartedly with any props given to it for craftsmanship and artistic quality, the "Fantasy elements are just in the character's head" deconstruction is one of the most common go-to's for any story of this sort and rarely holds water unless that was explicitly the point. Even granting him the attempted handwaving of Wybie's involvement in the finale (which I wouldn't buy, since that was what convinced him of Coraline's story strongly enough to let Coraline tell his Gran that her sister was killed by an otherworldly button spirit), Bobinski still relays info he personally wouldn't know but the mice would long after Coraline supposedly gave up 'Playing make-believe' and the final shot of the entire film is the cat teleporting without any other character around to reason it off as their imagination.
The movie is disturbing as fuck, please do not let children watch it. Completely fucking twisted creation from the deepest bowels of hell.
How the heck did they do the part with the other mother stretching?
Well on the transitions, it would definitely be easier to do it in stop motion because you have complete control, as opposed to live action where it's much harder with an actor standing in the same place making the same expression.
