Good and informative video on why you should never talk to the police, it can never help you. Also gives a bit of insight into the legal system.
reviewoftheweek's brother is weird
this is what sovereign citizens actually believe
But did you watch the video?
What's wrong with it? Maybe I'm just gullible about stuff like this as IANAL but this seemed fine to me, sorry.
Good lawyer. I'd hire him. Very eloquent.
Anyway, I know this won't get a lot of sympathy or understanding here, but as someone who's been charged and convicted in a US (NC) court, I can say this is 100% accurate. The only things I was convicted of were things I confessed myself by my own accord, even though there was plenty of evidence to convict me of all the rest. Evidence didn't matter when they already had an incriminating utterance said on my own behalf, they just threw out all the evidence and ran with that as their negotiating tactic to get me to take a lesser plea.
Realistically speaking, had I simply shut up and said nothing the entire time I probably would have had all charges dropped and only the other party would have gotten convicted.
Because the title sounds vaguely anti-police.
His arguments are sound and really help dispel the sort of annoying idea that you only call upon your fifth amendment rights when you're guilty. Seems like some people didn't actually bother to watch the video.
I made a list of his points in the OP, took a while since I accidentally hit cancel a few times. Please the points are sound IMO and are legitimately useful even if the video is too long.
Sovereign citizens believe that if they speak to the police they can be misinterpreted and are willing to provide real examples?
What?
This video is basically just a long way to say "shut up," which actually is pretty good legal advice.
Yeah I mean it's not even just the lawyer fast-talking the whole time, an actual police officer comes on immediately after and basically says "yes all of that is 100% accurate, correct, factual, absolutely true, and let me tell you why and give you more information proving it".
Seriously, if you're in serious trouble and you know it, or hell, lets say you KNOW you didn't do it, even if you think it'll sound stupid
"I wish to remain silent",
"I do not recall at this time",
"I would like to speak with a lawyer"
It could take days to get a lawyer, don't utter a single sentence that deviates from this even if you have to repeat it.
When the police are arresting you its their job to get a confession, and will even manipulate you. If you don't think this is the truth, you're going to go through actual hell if you ever get a serious arrest.
The only thing you're legally required to tell them is your name and address.
I've watched this video in total probably 3-4 times over the last few years. It's a great presentation.
