You know, maybe we can look at their systems and lear-

Money sat on is money of which has no value.
It’s always a bit of a giggle to think that the countries which lost the war - Germany, Italy and Japan - now make the best cars in the world
They're also running a budget surplus and have been for decades, which is insane. They could be investing so much more into infrastructure and the like but they just choose instead to let the money go to nothing.
Also to Donald Trump, who is probably going to be angered by this news and is working hard on lowering the USA's trade deficit:
Trade surplus and deficit means nothing without context, stop ruining your country over it. Germany's surplus is not an inherently good thing, and our deficit in the UK is not an inherently bad thing. The German government even stated they were intending on lowering the surplus, but it didn't work. We import tons of shit we simply don't have the climate, resources or labor market to produce. There's nothing wrong with that. We can't suddenly wake up one day with tons of oil and a hot climate, plus we shouldn't even consider solving unemployment by forcing people to make phones for 3p an hour. Basically: our deficit is not indicative of anything wrong with our country's economy.
Italy? In what world does Fiat-Chrysler make the best cars?
I think it's pretty weird that people are applauding them for this while simultaneously dumping on trump for pretending that our trade deficit is a bad thing.
That's very admirable of Germany. Perhaps they should invest it into space or renewable technology R&D?
Wait, you're telling me a country can make boat loads (literally) of money even when it provides basic needs for its citizens like healthcare??? Hmm I'm gonna need to go back to my notes, this doesn't match with what American conservatives have been telling me.
I think he means all those other italian makers besides fiat and (sadly) lancia
I mean there are always construction sites everywhere on roads here.
/s but there really are...
Would be nice if we could use this money and avoid the budget cuts in education that caused a ton of universities to cut staff.
It's not like the government has all that money, it's spread across all conpanies exporting more than they import.
Can't just tell the government to spend that money. Also the money they do get is spent on paying off our debts.
