The committee was alerted to the attempted breach Tuesday by a San Francisco-based security firm, Lookout, and a cloud-service provider, DigitalOcean. The security firm discovered that a fake DNC log-in page had been created to trick people into giving up their usernames and passwords, a Democratic official said. The page was designed to look like a portal that Democratic Party officials and campaigns use to access a platform called VoteBuilder, which houses the party’s voter file. Lookout’s detection tool for “phishing” sites was triggered late Monday and within hours company officials had called the DNC, DigitalOcean and the vendor that manages the DNC site, said Mike Murray, Lookout’s vice president of security intelligence. The detection tool is powered by artificial intelligence and receives thousands of hits on suspicious sites each day.
Just bring back the paper ballot, the whole problem will go away overnight.
Not overnight. But gradually.
Yeah, not anymore. I'm entirely sure Trump would just ask ol' Putin how to stuff the ballot boxes without getting caught. God knows there's more than enough sycophants in the GOP voter base to facilitate that.
And then spend 2.5 years to tally up all of the votes.
The rest of the world manages it by the next morning without creating a nightmarish security situation. That said it wouldn't help with this seen as they were after information, not trying to change votes it seems.
We have paper ballot in most if not all of the UK, we manage just fine. As long as you have competent and bi/multi-partisan people doing the counting there shouldn't be much a problem.
that's not what this is about at all. these are detailed lists on demographics of voters that are the heart of any campaign's platform and strategy, the DNC had their lists stolen in the last election and the GOP readily admitted to using them.
That's exceedingly hard to get in America. Only seven states even have independent commissions for redistricting. And for one of them the commission only makes the maps, the partisan legislature votes on them.

I mean, at least the DNC went straight to reporting it. If it had been the Republicans, they'd have left a text file on the server saying "hey do you want to make a deal with us? We have people we'd like you to hack".
