We're in the golden age of emulation lads
It feels like each Nintendo console is getting emulation quicker and quicker.
At what point do i just skip buying the console and just buy the games to dump myself?
I think the form factor of the Switch (portability, etc) + guaranteed support and launch day games is isnough reason to buy the console
it's much easier when there's a documented backdoor. And were' probably still a long way off anything playable.
If you're really interested in buying a switch, just wait for a sale at some point
best thing since sliced bread.
Whats sup with the grathics
It's been a Year and almost 5 months. Don't know where you got the "only 6 months" number for the console. Unless you mean only 6 months of development on the emulator, because that's completely different.
17 months, still impressive though other consoles took many years to get an emulator running.
Didnt some highly effective group at hacking state that the Switch was the best secured console they have ever seen?
Reminds me that the PS4 got hacked in a single day.
at this point nintendo might aswell release PC versions of their games
You will never see them on PC.
Sony didn't do it when they were near bankruptcy in 2006. Microsoft at least does it now at the cost of their Xbox consoles not selling.
The Switch using an SoC that is very well documented and commercially available (NVIDIA Tegra X1) certainly helps to speed things along.
The less consoles use specialized hardware, the easier they typically become to emulate.
Woops, seriously still feels like it came out this year
Yeah, but for people that don't care about portability, emulation may legitimately be the better option in the future - just as how Dolphin is now the best way to play Gamecube/Wii games.
The difference here is,
Sony's console emulators come out like 5-10 years after the console's life is over.
Nintendo's emulators have been coming out remarkably fast now.
Correct even though they are much more secure. It's because the Sony emulators are astonishingly less popular than Switch emulators. The progress that was made with the Switch emulator is only because the console is hugely popular. Just like how CEMU made the biggest progress with BOTW because the game was intensely popular. It's about demand.
RIp them

at least it seems playable at a decent enough framerate that's already very impressive
They're both sped up by 6~10x
