Following Trump’s comments in a morning television interview, two leading Republican senators suggested he could be replaced later this fall — though other senior Republicans strongly cautioned that Trump would have a hard time winning Senate confirmation for another nominee. Sessions said in his statement: “I took control of the Department of Justice the day I was sworn in, which is why we have had unprecedented success at effectuating the President’s agenda—one that protects the safety and security and rights of the American people, reduces violent crime, enforces our immigration laws, promotes economic growth, and advances religious liberty.” Sessions, a former Republican senator from Alabama, was among the earliest and most high-profile supporters of Trump during a GOP primary campaign in which the real estate mogul and reality television star was shunned by most elected officials in Washington. “And by the way, he was on the campaign,” Trump said on Fox. “You know, the only reason I gave him the job is because I felt loyalty. He was an original supporter.” After the interview, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) told reporters that he thinks it’s “very likely” Trump will replace Sessions but cautioned against doing so before the midterm elections. Senate Judiciary Chairman Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa) said Thursday that he could find time to hold hearings on a new nominee later this year after the Senate votes on Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court, Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh. Grassley said he was not advocating for a change at Justice but simply responding to questions about timing. “I’m just very generically telling people that I’ve got time for hearings this fall,” he told The Washington Post. Asked whether he still has confidence in Sessions, Grassley said: “Let’s put it this way, he’s a good friend.” Shortly after releasing his statement, Sessions arrived at the White House for a previously scheduled meeting on prison reform. Some of the new precariousness of Sessions’s position stems from an ongoing dispute over a criminal justice reform bill being pushed by Grassley. Sessions, whose views on law enforcement are shaped largely by the era of 1980’s mandato ry minimum sentences and harsh penalties for drug dealers, came out against the bill earlier this year, saying it “risks putting the very worst criminals back into our communities.” Grassley was furious, complaining that he had expended great efforts to get Sessions confirmed as attorney general, only to have Sessions thwart one of Grassley’s biggest legislative priorities. “It’s Grassley’s bill, and when the attorney general said he wouldn’t support it, Grassley said that was disloyal,” said a person close to Sessions. “But this isn’t a quid pro quo thing, and the attorney general isn’t going to be blackmailed.”
Sessions having more integrity than Trump? Shit, I don't even have anything clever to say. That's just surprising. I'd be more impressed if others would tell Trump to sit down and shut up.
President of the USA continues to baffle scientists by fucking up every single time.
It's funny that a reprehensible man like Sessions is our bulwark against further gross excesses by the President. Wait, did I say funny? I don't think that's the right word. I wonder if Session's resistance to Trump is based on actual convictions, or if he's just damned and determined to get his own agenda accomplished.
Grandpa Keebler's a little old racist who hates the wacky tabacky but at least he understands history well enough to know where this gong show is going and how history treats enablers. It's also great seeing Trump ranting again that Sessions is the bad guy for accepting the job of AG and then recusing himself when the Trump-Russia stuff came up after inauguration. It's almost as if Trump thinks Sessions should've known and accepted that Trump was up to shit and would need protection and he should've known that he was going to be expected to put the President's personal security and privacy above literally everything else. Trump is so upset that his Attorney General has an ethical compass instead of blindly defending him personally against justified criminal investigations. Tropico 6 better have an option to have your avatar be Trump instead of El Presidente, with corresponding handicaps and penalties. It could be a difficulty mode.
Jeff Sessions... welcome to the resis- I can't
I kinda hate this "Welcome to the resistance" thing. Most of them aren't anywhere near supporting resistance. Someone like Rosenstein, maybe. He might be legitimately invested in resisting Trump's regime and the growing presence of fascism, or maybe he is just dedicated to doing his job right. But someone like Cohen or Sessions, they're just out to save their own necks and nothing else.
Way to go, Jeff, you’ve drop down a few levels on the Douche-o-Meter! You’re now at: Still a Pretty Big Douche
That's definitely good to hear but also a little difficult to believe coming from Jeff "I do not recall" Sessions [1] I think he's trying to pull his political career out of the fire and score some brownie points more than anything else. Let it not be forgotten that a big reason he recused himself was his connection to Sergey Kislyak[1] [2]
Let's not forget who's talking here. I don't trust a word this worm says, and that includes this. It'd be the perfect thing for him to keep repeating if he was going to try to sabotage the investigation somehow, claiming all along that he was completely unbiased. Sessions is cut from the same cloth as Devin Nunes. Like Nunes, Sessions will likely be criminally implicated if Trump is brought down.

Mr. President, the DOJ works for the office of the President, not you personally. Mueller, meanwhile, is no doubt getting verified copies of these Tweets printed out and framed. Just another exhibit in his museum of obstruction of justice.
The president is on his knees groveling to the Attorney General he appointed to go after his former political rivals through Twitter. Sad!
The president just publicly demanded that his own attorney general assist him in obstructing Justice. Again.
Robert Mueller: Hmmm, oh! There’s another. *check* Hey Greg? Can you get me more notepads? This one’s full.
What the fuck is a phony and corrupt dossier exactly? It's a piece of paper Trump, the dossier can't collude with others against you.
Seeing Trump shrivel and squirm is satisfying.

I hate the "resistance" thing in general because it implies you want to overthrow the country rather than restore or improve it.
Squirm you rat.
This from the guy who refused to prosecute KKK terrorists because he agreed with their politics and tried to have the people who pointed that out jailed on false charges. Sorry but Jefferson Davis PT Beauregard Sessions' word means squat.
https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1033332301579661312?s=19 Clock is ticking it seems
When he starts yelling "No obstruction!" we know Mueller has done something big
I like how he calls life long Republican's working on the Muller team along with insinuating that Muller himself are just "Angry Democrats". Like legit how does this moron get by with zero oxygen getting to his brain.
Has he been adding to that number? I swear it's changed a few times as the heat gets turned up
Fox did the same. “Democrats” is such a bad word that they’ve “accidentally” left it next to disgraced Republicans that they’ve reported in the news.
Donald Trump's legal strategy appears to be breaking so many laws, so quickly, and so flagrantly that the prosecutors can't possibly finish investigating them all.
It's a legal DoS attack. It's brilliant...ly stupid.
