I love that design but it looks super cheap. Look at the detailing on the grille around the "headlights." Seams and warping everywhere. They threw this together in a couple of weeks with AutoCAD, some sheet metal and a CNC.
So, like a Kalashnikov?
damn u right
Return of the Trabant, ELECTRIC EDITION.
WAIT 15 YEARS FOR CAR
Kalashnikov, r u ok?
First fake robot now Lada facelift?
I think it would be kinda cool if it made it into production. I don't think EVs are big in Russia so it would be cool for them to have their own home built EV which would probably be more popular than foreign EVs. I like the idea of a cheap stamped out EV that can be built quickly but I feel like this is nothing more than a convention show piece. They call it a "supercar" in the article which seems weird with the styling they're going for.
that's a moskvich kombi with LED's.
it's not just a "retro look" it's literally a car built in the 70s lmao.
No is new make car manufacture of new space age material we invent call "bakelite". Is sturdy same as babushka's Isba
*duroplast
Is Russia just on high grade propaganda mode now to show the world how "high tech" they are or something?
Im actually so into this thing. I dont care that it looks like a piece of shit, I love it.
It looks like a horrid 60's Soviet shitbox. I want one three.
I already have a Kalashnikov and now they're telling me I have the chance to drive one, sign me the fuck up.
To be fair, if this was the look I'd want one.
When I saw "retro electric supercar" I was expecting a retro-future design, not a 70s car with an electric engine shoved in.
Seriously though, first the ugly non-functional "mech" and now this, what are they trying to accomplish exactly?
Rule the future like kings, obviously. They already sell gats and booze and they want to branch into cars, that's like my 3 favorite SFW activities.
I welcome our gopnik overlords.
Are you telling me that you read 'kalashnikov' and thought those things?
Expecting anything other than a Soviet metal box with an electric motor is crazy.
A Kalashnikar, I like it.
Kalashnikov really changed after the Kalashnikov died 2013 didn't it?
the problem with Lada esque stamped out electric cars is theyd be shit because they'd be too heavy and incapable of handling the power of an electric drive system
This is aggressively slavic.
It's like that one truck, every car comes with a free AK.
What? Ladas and old Slav cars in general have always been barebones and extremely lightweight, especially when compared to modern nearly-two-tons EVs like say, any Tesla.
the best part is its secretly an italian.
Honestly if anything that concerns me more, there's a bit of a famous local incident where in '89 a Zastava Koral (Yugoslavian car similar to Ladas, based on the Fiat 127, known in the US as Yugos) was blown off the Mackinac Bridge by a 50mph wind, I shudder to think of what would happen with a modern electric motor in a frame that light.
Any EV version would be weighed down by the battery on the bottom. I don't think the weight of the car would be a problem. Especially with modern engineering and weight saving design.
I'd legit buy one, if I were ever to get an EV, but because it's a Kalashnikov it's probably banned in Canada.
I love that shitty Soviet-era aesthetic.
