The pathways from American motorsports to Formula One are very narrow, but it’s probably possible. It would have to involve a budding driver investing time in Asian and/or European open-wheeler championships, like what Daniel Ricciardo had to do. However, Daniel did benefit from the fact that Australia has domestic open-wheeler championships such as Formula Ford as well as 4 and 3, as stepping stones. I’m not sure if America has as many lower-level open-wheeler championships.
