what a sad ending to the story of a man who famously shit his pants in front of the whole world
i will never tire of mike's constant references to Star Trek TNG. they are golden moments.
those deleted scenes are baffling, the "captain material" one was pure gold
The Force Awakens also had deleted scenes that probably should've been included
They should have included the third lesson too. I didn't hate Canto Blight as much as a lot of people, but they really could have axed half of it and kept most of the deleted scenes, and the movie would have been better for it.
Plinkett getting his dick ripped off by his cat was amazing
I'm kind of glad it's his last Star Wars one, but i'd like to see more reviews of other films
I'd highly recommend all non Star Wars Plinketts for anyone who hasn't seen them!
Ford dodged a bullet.
Mike is pure

After rewatching the movie, I realized how much of the movie is just fucking weird. Everything on the ship with like five different plans happening and no one talking to each other in human ways.
then there’s DJ who exists because??????
he isn’t even reportedly going to be in the next movie and just feels like a waste of time.
Like the whole movie tries to do this whole theme of darkness and light being two sides of the same coin... but then DJ tries to make Rose and Finn feel bad that the resistance buys their ships from the same people as the First Order.
So??? One side is a ragtag group of veterans and the other side is a genocidal force that blew up an entire solar system because they could
Rian Johnson used to mow my yard. He added too much fertilizer and made it worse. He told me he was "subverting my expectations"
I told him to FUCK himself, and I fired him
hehe yes mike said that in the video
That's not mike that's Mr. Plinkett.
No way this is actually the last Star Wars Plinkett review. I think that was just for the title of the video, and I think he was just being cheeky at the end. AFAIK Mike really loves doing these.
Not sure why yer talking shit I definitely am not the first person to post a quote
I haven't watched the movie, but is DJ short for Dexter Jettster?

they're not bringing del toro's character back? he's one of the only characters i liked in the movie
Nope, making his entire plot line pointless
TLJ is a muddled cacophony, but honestly for me it ended up being far more compelling than TFA for the dynamic between Rey, Kylo, and Luke alone. (In contrast, the choices made for Finn and Rose's C-plot shenanigans are baffling.) TFA felt bland to me overall, whereas the conflict between Rey and Kylo felt more rich and alive in TLJ and it left me curious about where it would go in the final film. (I get the impression pretty clearly that Kylo isn't intended as a pitch black villain, meaning I don't think the plan is for Rey to just kill him. I also don't think Kylo will just switch sides and suddenly be a good boy either.)
But man, Rich is so achingly right about where the film should've ended.
This movie is a mess, but I find it kind of fascinating how polarizing the Rey/Luke/Kylo dynamic seems to be for the audience. I was never big into Star Wars, so I don't take my opinions here that seriously.
I'm still pissed they didn't roll with Rey joining Kylo. It was the most interesting plot of the movie.
I'm mostly pissed about Kylo Ren's backstory. It makes no sense. Why would Luke Skywalker, the dude who redeemed Darth fucking Vader, ever even consider killing his own nephew?
Okay that ending Mike suggested sounds way better
Because they had no idea how to characterize Luke at all. There are some really good things with Luke in the movie... but then there's a ton of just... not
I've watched a fair few hot take review videos trying to explain why this movie is so terribly unsatisfying to watch, usually with a painfully nasal voice.
The whole segment on the comparison to a comedy of errors completely blew my mind. Explains perfectly why the movie feels so underwhelming, which I could never pin my finger on. You're watching characters make contrived dumb error after contrived dumb error over and over again for 2 hrs 30 mins and its not even funny, so the result just leaves you with a bad feeling in your gut.
In ESB all the biggest errors the characters make happen at the end - Luke goes to confront Darth Vader, Lando trusts Darth Vader and Han trusts Lando. And none of them are as contrived and dumb as getting arrested for bad parking.
im interested to see what kind of bullshit disney pulls out of their ass for episode 9 seeing how they basically ended all plot leads going into the last movie
Every has their own opinions about the prequels but IMO - you can at least have fun with them - whether you hate them or like them, there is still can be fun to be had with them.
TLJ just pissed me off.
I only watched The Last Jedi once, and that's because even on my first viewing the whole movie felt like a bunch of contrived bullshit to create drama out of nothing. Less that I hated the movie and more that I had no interest in watching it again since I knew it would frustrate me more on a rewatch to analyze exactly where every stupid decision the cast makes happens, and where it bites them in the ass.
And then the movie just ends like, "Hey, we know you were fucking stupid, but at least we got outta there alive where no one else didn't!"
