TL;DR Trump is attacking the oversight mechanisms that are working -- the media, Mueller, and law enforcement in general -- while doing everything he can to maintain Republican control over the oversight mechanisms that are not working -- Congress -- to keep them that way. If he could get away with it, he would try and legally inhibit Google from disseminating the functioning free press, which is a First Amendment violation.
Trump's entire survival revolves around him convincing his voters to ignore reality and listen to only him until such time as he can take control of the media and begin to reshape what is communicated about reality.
And that's one of several dozen laws and court rulings he doesn't give half a shit about.
