So straight up bribery for a rapist, what the FUCK dude
This is bad. This is very, very bad.
hang them both.
Can we just throw that smegma-ridden asshole (Weinstein) in jail already?
The Cuomo-Nixon TV debate is in 45 minutes, I believe it's the only debate they'll be having. Combined with this hitting today, this is probably the make-or-break moment for the Nixon campaign.
25,000 is all it takes to bribe a politician? Jesus christ.
Cuomo's a scumbag. I hope he loses the primary to Cynthia Nixon.
I hope Miss. Nixon or people viewing debate to talk about this quick before September 7th.
This fucker just keeps giving me more reasons to hate him. First he cancelled government funds to help the Central Terminal in Buffalo, then he fucked over funding for the radioactive waste cleanup in West Valley, then it was the shitty gun control legislation voted in with scummy conditions, and now this! Seriously, too those of which I share the same birth state, please get rid of him!
Is it possible for there to be a New York governor who's not a corrupt asshole?
because of course he fucking did.
People are too stupid for a Nixon to win.
I don't normally support the death penalty but i might be inclinded to support it for corruption like this.
As a compromise corruption should be counted as treason. When you take money to undermine the law like this when you're a politician or otherwise involved in enforcing the law then you are undermining, and thus betraying, the country you are sworn to serve.
Oh yeah, anything that undermines the democratic process should be treason.
Considering there's around 7,900 elected officials in the US at the federal and state legislature level, plus thousands more at the county and city level, and more for the state offices and judiciary, you'd be jailing and killing a lot of people.
They'll wise up pretty quickly i think.
Deterrence does not work. They wouldn't.
Deterrence doesn't work for most STREET crimes. We are less sure that it is ineffective for white collar crimes.
Deterrence doesn't work because nobody thinks they're going to be caught. White-collar criminals have even less of a reason to believe that they'll be caught, because chances are they won't be because our justice system is garbage. Increasing penalties on a crime that nobody thinks they'll be punished for isn't going to steer them away from committing said crime. The most effective measure of preventing crime is convincing people they'll be caught for it.
Agreed on that front. There should be an entire branch of the FBI dedicated to investigating politicians for corruption. Most white collar crimes go unconvicted because there just isn't anyone to handle it
Isn't it curious that the biggest force behind systematically defunding and scaling back the IRS and various regulatory/oversight bodies and agencies within the Federal government over the past decade has been Republicans? Agencies that would've likely caught Paul Manafort and friends' financial shenanigans if they were properly funded to be able to process the number of audits and investigations they should be doing every year. Must be a coincidence.
