Has anyone of you experience with escape rooms? I always wanted to try it but it's fairly expensive where I live
VR has some escape room games, it's pretty cool shit.
Done one, it was really fun. You have to go with a good group of friends who won’t take things to seriously, but also will be motivated to win.
I went with a group of 7 other people, but I ended up doing most of the puzzles myself. Well, I finished them, other people started them. Manipulating real life puzzles and objects to solve riddles is something I enjoy doing so it just came naturally for me.
It was for a friend's birthday party, a mix older people and younger children. Some folks' brains just aren't wired for puzzles/games. I wish I was kidding, it felt a little most people just go into "NPC" mode when confronted with problems or puzzles, just slowly working at it until I came by to finish it. You could chalk that up to them not focusing as hard as I was, the parents were mostly staring at their kids to make sure they didn't break anything.
For the record we didn't finish, but we were off by two puzzles. They were fun, but bring people who aren't going to muck about otherwise you'll have to shoulder the brunt of the legwork. They are a bit expensive, but when themed right they are a blast. I recommend them.
I did one with my family for my sister's birthday last year (her idea). It was hectic yet fun.
It was the hardest one there, and we finished it with just 2 or 3 minutes left.
although we only beat it because my sister used to work at a different escape room company, so she obviously knew the general process we needed to do
amount of progress was
her - 65%
me - 30%
mom and step-dad - 5%
Did real world escape rooms stem from those old newgrounds escape room games, or was there some older origin?
It's all spawned by that one flash game we all played back in the day.
My friend group has gone to two escape rooms and had an absolute blast. Amazingly, everyone contributed equally and it was tons of fun. We escaped both rooms, the first one with seconds to spare and the second with 5 minutes extra. I cannot recommend escape rooms highly enough.
Easiest way to get out of an escape room is to start a small fire in the corner. They'll almost always unlock the door for you.
It's a lot of fun. Escape room places tend to have groupons if you look for them online
