• Coca-Cola to buy Costa coffee for £3.9bn
    9 replies, posted
Coca-Cola is to buy the Costa coffee chain from owner Whitbread in a deal worth £3.9bn. Whitbread had intended to spin off the chain as a separate firm, but said a straight sale was more profitable. Chief executive Alison Brittain said Whitbread would now focus on its Premier Inn business in the UK and Germany. Whitbread bought Costa, which is now the UK's biggest coffee chain, for just £19m in 1995. ... She said she thought the beverage giant would use Costa to create "ready to drink, cold brew coffees". "You could see Costa absolutely everywhere, in vending machines, hotels, restaurants, pubs, cafes - in all the places you see Coke today," she added. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-45365893
better not touch my fucken chai latte like
If they ruin the chai latte then I'm fucking done with Costa, it's the only good thing they do. They're overpriced and the materials in their products are shit. Source: I used to make the stuff that goes in their shops.
Can't say I mind this, every Costa I've been too tasted like shit. Just hope they don't skyrocket the prices, I still like having cheap coffee.
what costas do you go to where the coffee's cheap??
The ones inside colleges that are usually partnered with them are usually quite cheap. They're relatively cheap compared to other coffee ships unless you get one from a shitty vending machine for a quid.
More like Costa fuckin fortune
I've got coffee drinking down to as cheap as I can by buying the big tubs from Costco and having it black. Everytime I buy a coffee somewhere it doesn't feel right.
I work at Costa, and this is a surprise.. we had no idea it was happening Still, shouldn't interfere with the Brand and afaik nothing is really going to change. Just new ownership
I've always enjoyed drinks from Costa. The food is a bit meh but that's not really why people go to a Costa.
