As per @Hezzy 's request, I'm making a thread to gauge potential interest in new News Node bots to be added in the future. Let Hezzy know if there are any particular ones you like seen and why. For me: PCGamer - yes there were a few shit articles but there were still plenty I enjoyed reading and got a lot of general game news from here. ArsTechnica - good overall tech website, good to keep up-to-date in the consumer electronics world. Eurogamer - possible alternative to PCGamer. Also includes DigitalFoundry articles. Also, to gauge interest, would anyone here be interested in a Politics only style News Node? This would be a good way to feed in good political articles from a select few curated sources. Since we have access to Child Forum filters, having every specific News Node feed as it's own forum would make it very easy to filter out content you do or don't want to see.
Bring back PCGamesN my one stop shop for shit articles without going to their website.
I like to see anything related Nintendo articles I.e.: Nintendo Life on News Node imo.
I loved the old News Node. But definitely keep the Tech&Gaming News Node separate from the politics.
What I enjoyed the most about the news node wasn't exactly the news, but rather the sometimes enlightening discussion around the issues the articles prop up. I'd really like to see it back! The problem is really just selecting quality feeds, but why not outsource that to the community? I'd love to see a system in which people could suggest rss feeds that would automatically create bot accounts, and those bots would use coins to publish articles (maybe on a timed basis, like 100 coins for a month of articles), and people would simply coin the news they'd enjoyed, thus fuelling the bots and keeping them around. It feels like it'd be a neat thing to use coins for!
