• Display crashes and GPU fan speeds up to max when playing games

Last week I bought a Gigabyte brand GTX 1080ti and everything was fine with it until late last night when my display crash and the fans on my GPU started going max speed. I thought it was weird but wouldn't panic unless it happened again. Well it did, in fact it happened multiple times. The only thing I could think of trying was increasing the fan power in case it was an over heating issue and I updated my drivers. However neither of those fixed the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? The only other solution I can think of is to take the card out and try putting it back in but I doubt that'll do anything.
Have you actually checked the temps? There might be some problem with the radiator not making good contact with the chip, which makes the fans speed up even though they're unable to cool anything down, which would explain the overheating even when idle
Yeah I did, it was only at around 50c when it happened.
More than a clean install, use displaydriveruninstaller in safe mode to completely wipe them, then install a fresh copy
Do you have it set to any overclocks?
Okay so about 30 minutes after I made this thread I re-seated the card and uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers then went to bed. For the next two days it was working perfectly fine so I was waiting to see if it happened again. Well it just did and I'm wondering if I should send it back and get it replaced.
Did you uninstall with DDU or just a normal uninstall via control panel?
