Tobacco advirtising was (at least in US) banned ages ago and for good reason. We had (still do) a huge issue with people and children smoking. The last thing we need is to be encouraged to start.
And fuck the tobacco industry, they don't deserve the sympathy. They knew the harm it caused, and decided "ehhh, let's make a little more money anyway and keep it quiet."
This is past the line of "let them advirtised their product and let the people respond how they would." Trying to advirtised cigarettes it trying to get more people to smoke. And that's sinister.
I know smoking's bad and everything, but it is genuinely quite pleasant in my experience. For a start, it helps me with anxiety because I'm actually doing something when out and about that makes me feel less stiff, but I also love the kick in the back of the throat, even if it's just carcinogens.
unfiltered weed smoke makes me cough a lot but it's fine. a filtered cigarette makes me want to fucking die and to date i've never finished one

look if you want to smoke tobacco, whatever. im a light smoker and i'm fully aware of the consequences, if i have a heart attack at 29 and die of cancer at 31 then i knew the risks and i was being stupid. i bought the plain packaged olive green cigarettes with no branding, covered in warnings about my health, paid the absurd tax to do so and most importantly i bought the product of my own accord.
the moment you start allowing companies to advertise cigarettes as a product that makes you cool and attractive or in any other way try to build a fun brand image about a product that causes the most preventable deaths on the planet, then you have a serious SERIOUS problem

That's true, yes. Alcoholics are far more likely to create problems in the street for sober people, although I still think alcohol can be done in moderation whereas smoking cannot.
I smoke a cigar or a pipe once or twice a year with my friend. Smoking can certainly be done in moderation, just not really with cigarettes.
I suppose that's fair, but to clarify, I meant there's no parallel between drinking a glass of wine every evening with smoking that doesn't have negative health implications, even if you're vaping, although vaping is said to be 95% better for you than smoking, so I don't think vaping each day is something people should be concerned about.
i remember when i was in indonesia there were so many advertisements for cigarettes, it weirded me out. they were mostly focused on how smoking makes you look cool.
they even had a cigarette ad where the tagline was "never quit"

Pretending unfiltered weed cigarettes are somehow not worse than tobacco cigarettes is super dumb.
Weed isn't exempt from potentially giving you cancer just because it gets you high.
One of the issues with social media is the ease at which big companies can "astroturf" or do unregulated, unaccountable advertising. I guess we already knew that from when this happens with politics rather than consumer goods.

You can use tar bars, water pipes, anything. Bottom line is youre still inhaling smoke and no matter how you do it youre still taking in carcinogens. Pretending dope is safer because its in a water pipe is fuckin dumb
i'm not saying it's safer but it's definitely not worse, and inhaling colder smoke is always better for your body. besides, from my experience, it's more economically viable. just thinking bout yall
Never understood smoking cigarettes.
I mean I get that a lot of people got into it by things like peer pressure or trying to be cool and stuff but you literally never have to start with it usually.
It is also logically just nonsense as its literally smoking away our money while slowly getting lung cancer, ruining your home (smell/color), ruining your own smell and tons of other issues.
Its just stupid.
Please try not to alienate people who smoke. Most people start smoking out of curiosity or whatever without knowing just how bad it could be and they end up in that spiral. You should do your best to be understanding and supportive.
But they're nowhere near the same though, cigarettes are much more toxic
