Hackers would just make new accounts like in TF2. Valve definitely wants to make it free but it would make the cheating issue even worse.
Doesn't Prime solve that issue though?
Hacking is an industry for CS, I bet you anything the industry supplies phone numbers/prime-enabled accounts as well.
14-17 year old me who had crap internet and no source of income would had loved this. I always loved playing against bots at the time as a change of pace from typical single-player experiences and often would download a bunch of mods and maps for Left 4 Dead, CS:S and such
I do agree though F2P should had at least casual MP on it as well, hacking is always an issue yes but it's not as big of an issue on non-competitive/ranked modes imho, or at the very least I wish LAN mode did work, but I guess Valve knows internet cafe markets are a source of money they still want to tap
At the very least still a nice thing to have, a nice modern and free version of fun CS bot matches with easy to get workshop maps and mods for everyone to be able to enjoy
its 2 euro for a prime valid phone number
don't know the current going price for preactivated prime accs is, but i can guarantee you it's cheaper than buying a new copy from steam thanks to the magic of russia
If frequently encountering hackers in MM becomes a problem for you I believe you can opt for a third-party matchmaker like ESEA or Faceit (one is a paid subscription and the other is free IIRC).
I've heard good things about them but I haven't tried them yet so I don't actually know what it's like.
What if with the CSGO Free players could join COMMUNITY servers, but not official lobbies ?
faceit free is worse than mm, if you want to play client then faceit premium is the best option right now
don't support esea
ESEA is a toxic xenophobic (in the eu atleast) mess , 90% of people in pugs play for kills only (Because they think the RWS stat = skill ) , most of the time if you try to make people cooperate and point out their objectively bad play style it just starts into a massive flame war , you also often get people who start griefing for the pettiest shit .
They recently removed the option for the team captain to kick players (it was not a bad system , if someone abused the kick function he would get reported and eventually banned ) , their solution is every time someone gets reported during the game , an "admin" will join the game (most of the time it just feels like a bot who copy pastes warning texts and leaves) which is horrible because people instantly stop their toxic behavior when the admin joins because its broadcasted in the chat that an admin connects. One time we had a person who was intentionally making us loose rounds from round 2 , the admin connected on round 10 (before that he was afkíng in spawn or pistol rushing with the bomb trying to give it to the enemy team) and of course when the admin connected he instantly stopped trolling , I told the admin what he had been doing and the admin responded "well he is not doing it now ,problem solved ^_^" and left , the guy kept on trolling after that and we lost even though it was really close.
I don't know why I keep giving them money.
Maybe find an alternative to ESEA.
Well the servers are really good in esea , better than faceit when I last tried it , and cheaters are a really rare occurrence.
As much as I hate the gambling aspect of CSGO, the only thing you can gain are skins which don't affect the actual gameplay at all, so ehhh
