Nearly 90 Elephants Found Dead Near Botswana Sanctuary, Killed B..
For fuck's sake, the elephants are going to go extinct at this rate.
If it was possible, I'd volunteer as a ranger to help fight poachers over there.
poach the poachers
You can. https://www.iapf.org/get-involved/join-the-green-army/
All we have to do is convince rich people that Poacher bones fetch a high price
No he can't There are no further 2018 vacancies  for volunteers. Our Green Army program is undergoing a refresh and we will be back with an even better experience to offer in 2019.
This is a tourist attraction. You pay for it on top of travel expenses and don't confront poachers.
Did you think that working as a ranger would involve just shooting poachers out of the back of a vehicle? Anti poaching is more than just physically stopping them, and from what I can tell, the organization actually does work which means that the voulenteers are helping to stop the problem. Do you have a source on the claim that it's a tourist attraction that doesn't actually serve its claimed purpose? He can't this year, which makes sense since the year is coming to a close and something like that isn't exactly just a step away.
Poachers are the scum of the Earth honestly.
It's a tourist attraction that helps to fund the actual rangers. You pay for a guided tour to experience some of the safe work. It's right there on the page you linked. It's helping, sure, but I'm talking about volunteering as a ranger doing the dangerous shit - working with the animals, dealing with dangerous traps in the wild, and yes, tracking and engaging poachers directly. As far as I know most sub-Saharan countries have laws forbidding foreigners from acting in an official capacity as rangers.
I mean, isn't the end result the important bit? It seems like the thing I linked is both a way to donate and to actually help out with work. I know that donating isn't exciting, but it's the best way that you can help if you really want to, even if you stayed home while you did it.
Ah, It's shame we cannot move elephants from Africa to the deserts of the US.
I was in Chobe a couple of weeks ago, odd to know this was happening around the same time... Also, three white rhinos is a bitch, those are even more endangered than elephants. It doesn't surprise me, though. When I saw white rhinos in Zimbabwe, there was a dude standing within 100m with a Kalashnikov 24/7, and the horns were cut off as a precaution. In Botswana I've seen a rhino with its horn intact, though that may be because it was raising a baby rhino. Also, the protectors were just driving around, meaning they probably don't stick with them 24/7. An even then, if I read the article correctly, what are they gonna do without a shoot to kill law?
