Tesla executives quitting en masse (four in the past six months), another executive on leave of absence who has advised they would not be returning, an SEC probe and possible charges because Elon tweets first and thinks second, and Elon getting stoned on camera. I don’t think the shareholders, who have invested substantial money in the company, are just going to roll over and take it.
is this a massive overreaction to Elon smoking some weed or am I just naive
It was one tiny puff of a tiny blunt. People need to get over it.
if anything it makes me respect someone more tbh
They're all pedophiles for disagreeing with elon.
Its all of the shit he's pulling. The weed was the final straw.
Less that and more the fact he was doing that the same time Telsa's chief accounting officer and HR head are leaving, doesn't reflect to have your boss doing that when the company is obviously having issues.
Then just dip?! If you're uneasy about your investment then just sell your shares and deal with something a little less 'risky'. By leveraging your investments to sway a company's direction and focus you are no longer playing the role of a financier.
someone smoking weed shouldn't have be a final straw
the fact he was calling some guy a pedo for no reason is another story
Are you suggesting that shareholders, literally the owners of a company, should have no say over the company’s direction? The CEO is appointed by the Board of Directors, but which body do you think appoints the Board of Directors?
Not all financiers are equal. Shareholders using their shareholding to sway the direction of the company is one of the key points of equity financing. After all, shareholders are the owners. Debt financing (creditors) is where the financier isn’t an owner, and so doesn’t have such influence on the conpany’s mission.
I don't see whats so bad about this
Musk is self destructing at a rapid rate, he needs to get off social media, and stop micromanaging everything.
Musk needs a vacation. A long one.
Shareholders are the only reason that Tesla exists as it does today.
I don't really care about the future of Tesla. Electric cars aren't going anywhere, especially as more manufacturers enter the market. But I swear, if Elon derails SpaceX too because of his buffoonery, I'm going to be fucking pissed.
They are about to have yet another record quarter and likely achieve profitability, so he's still delivering amazing results. Everything else is noise.
Nice spin, hoping everyone would take you for your word. You’d hope that Tesla won’t have another record-breaking quarter, because they had a record-breaking loss in the last quarter of $717.5 million. Don’t want to beat that record.
The loss was the cost of getting Model 3 production going, they now have reaped the benefits of that. Musk recently confirmed it in a company wide email:
We are about to have the most amazing quarter in our history, building and delivering more than twice as many cars as we did last quarter. For a while, there will be a lot of fuss and noise in the media. Just ignore them. Results are what matter and we are creating the most mind-blowing growth in the history of the automotive industry.
Tesla are guiding profitability this quarter and next at least.
If Tesla can keep their build rate up I don't see any reason why they shouldn't be profitable in this half.
Shutting down and just getting away from everything, even for a moment is so incredibly helpful. Sometimes you need to just not care about anything for a moment.
Elon cares too much and the dude needs to seriously chill out.
he was drinking whiskey as well, not allowed to smoke a bit of weed but allowed to have a few glasses of whiskey.
Funny enough Elon even mentioned in the interview that alcohol is also a drug but has been "grandfathered in" as socially acceptable. Corporate types drink all the time and a few decades ago it was part of business culture. But god forbid you take one hit of a blunt.
i dont mind if he's smoking weed or drinking a wee bit but there's a time and place for everything, least of all during a PR catastrophe
It seems to me that his life started going downhill after he met Grimes. He's probably been abusing drugs since because he hasn't been looking great recently.
Arent Teslas like kind of dangerous to drive because they have really bad brakes?
Imo keep this company off the road if they cant make a safe car.
So I apply for and land an in person interview at a local Tesla dealership, and then all this shit goes down.
Super pumped to potentially get the job and everything but Jesus man. At this rate, I'm hoping the company doesn't start to fucking die off if I manage to hop on board.
So they're not allowed to drink a beer? One beer makes me more dumb than weed, although either are obviously a poor decision during work hours.
Seriously though - Elon didn't even breathe in.
Tesla's are pretty much the safest cars ever built. Apparently the NHTSA rated the S and X as having the lowest probability of injury of any car.
The braking issue you are referring to was a software issue with ABS on early Model 3s that caused slightly longer than average stopping distances after the first emergency stop. Tesla found the issue and deployed an over the air update, so all Model 3 owners woke up the next day to a car with better stopping distance.
