https://gematsu.com/2018/09/mysterious-game-company-too-kyo-games-established-led-by-noted-game-creator Famitsu.com is reporting on the establishment of a new game company called Too Kyo Games by a “certain well-known game creator.” Too Kyo Games will host a live stream on September 11 at 19:00 JST where that creator will appear, and details about the company’s establishment, goals, and current project will be revealed. The broadcast will also feature Famitsu editor-in-chief Katsuhiko Hayashi, Too Kyo Games staff, and voice actors. It will be streamed on YouTube and Niconico (the YouTube link will be shared at a later time). As a countdown to the live stream, Too Kyo Games will be publishing videos of other game creators who know its own noted creator well. The first video features Square Enix’s Yosuke Saito, who says, “Actually, (redacted) asked me for advice about this a while ago, like ‘But wouldn’t this be good? Wouldn’t this be good?’ Since what I told that person then is connected to now, if I can get back like 10 percent or so, it will all be worth it. Please make sure everyone has fun.” Saito seems to be joking about giving this creator advice on starting up a company, and now wants a cut of the profits in return. https://youtu.be/U8wmbga_pEQ The Current Theory is that its Yoko Taro of Nier/Drakengard fame.
if it is my boy Taro, hopefully all of their future PR pieces are done like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhDL3Q86ofY
Yoko Taro is chaotic neutral tuned up to 11. you can't expect anything he says to be true
A lot of the themes of destruction in his games are based on 9/11. Look up the true ending to Drakengard 1 if you want some sort of idea.
I don't know where to find the whole interview, but a lot of characters motivations are twisted and are justified in their own eyes. Even when certain characters commit atrocities they are justified when observed from their own perspective.
NieR and Drakengard Creator Says NieR Was Inspired By 9 Later in the panel, Yoko moved on to discussing Nier and some of the ways in which that game attempts to move the player. For Nier’s design, he revealed, he was deeply influenced by the events of 9/11 and the world thereafter.   9-11 was an unfortunate event that triggered out of a situation where both sides believed they were doing the right thing. The question is, what did they see from their point-of-view? What does it look like from each other’s perspectives? These were the thoughts that went through his head when he was making Nier.
Isn't Kyo Japanese for crazy?Iis this meant to be like a mangled Japanglish for too crazy then, as company name?
tbh I saw it as a corruption of Tokyo and also crazy.
You did see the Kyo connection too then? I mean I don't know that much Japanese but that's where I went. Don't know about the Tokyo part, though I kind of see it.
We're both idiots lol https://www.wordhippo.com/what-is/the-meaning-of/japanese-word-ca3d853026310bf5a437f3eff32076db493a5784.html No where near crazy
Well. I mean they're both close, crazy and insanity. I thought it meant lunatic anyways.
The "complete" romanization of "Tokyo" is actually "Tōkyō" or "Tookyoo", as both vowels are supposed to be long. I imagine some Japanese people shorten the final o sound out of habit, the way people colloquially modify frequently-said words to be easier to say. So there's room for multiple layers.
https://twitter.com/TooKyoGames/status/1038681007447142400 the twitter account confirms it's a pun on "too crazy"
https://gematsu.com/2018/09/too-kyo-games-led-by-danganronpa-and-zero-escape-creators-kazutaka-kodaka-and-kotaro-uchikoshi-four-projects-underway Led by Danganronpa and Zero Escape creators. Holy fuck yes, I love 999 and danganronpa, I am so excited for this.
Oh fuck, more Masafumi Takada goodness. Now I'm really looking forward to this.
