Officials looking for person responsible for shooting hawk
It's against federal law to willingly harm hawks. People have been trying to catch it for days now, to no avail.
And after living here my whole life this doesnt really surprise me, just some good ol' boys fucking around.
If the image was a little less NSFW, that image will spread like wild-fire as a meme.
It's not really even /that/ bad, but i didnt want to ruin anyone's morning with a suffering animal.
Pretty robust bird
That bird is totally no fucks given.
It had to have been the Yeerks.
I'm amazed that it's still alive; birds are very fragile in just about every way.
I get it!
...I mean I, uh... I understood that reference...
It almost looks funny with how he just sits there, perched somewhere with a fucking arrow sticking straight through him.
Ain't no thang.
just a flesh wound

How is that thing still alive? Surely that arrow is penetrating lung(s)?
yeah you just keep breathing it's that easy
No, he said that it'd breathe through its nose. You know, so it doesn't have to use its lungs.
Come on man, reading comprehension.
i was making a joke, guess i failed at making it read like one
It's possible the arrow only glanced organs, insanely unlikely but humans have suffered significantly more damage
like this guy
A man, 37, was struck by lightning on a construction site in south-west Chin
He then landed on a long metal rod and had it pierced through his torso
There was also a boy who was impaled in a similar way, it didn't hit any of his organs.
If it just hits in exactly the perfect way it can miss organs and just straight up not bleed because its lodged in there
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phineas_Gage
And then there's this fucking legend
The man shouldn't even be alive, especially with medical care of that era. But human anatomy be damned, he is.
What a fucking trooper that hawk is.
Whoever did this just shot it to be an asshole.
If you are hunting small game with a bow you don't use broad heads or field tips. You use thrashers, blunt tips, or small game tips which kill by the force/kinetic energy of the arrow and not the penetration of vital organs.
Basically, you're a fuck head if you shoot at hawks, and your a bigger fuckhead for not using the correct tools to do the job.

..This is really starting to hurt..... Guys?
he died in 158 years ago
Oh holy fuck, I didn't realize this was local til I clicked the link.
It didn't penetrate anything lethal is how it's alive. because of bird anatomy and bone structure you can penetrate them extremely easily, this actually works in the birds favor because the energy is not completely put into said bird like say a very bird lethal blunt arrow that would shatter the crap out of its bones and leave it grounded.
so lets say your shot with an arrow in the lung what do you do? well first off you don't immediately pull it out because the drop in blood pressure would cause you to either faint or fall down and be put in a helpless state due to your resulting lightheadedness, secondly the arrow while initially a painful nuisance, your body will adapt to living with it and will release pain dampeners while the tissue around the hole will get springy and loose over time leaving less pain over all. Blood acts as a seal in this case so the bird may have trouble breathing but it's nothing to write home about until its winter years.
That is to say, if it got hit in the lungs at all.
Human anatomy be damned
People talking about projectile survivors -- Andrew Jackson got filled with so many pistol shells he was said to rattle like a sack of loose marbles as he walked around. He was a piece of shit, but you've got to admit that's a fucking hilarious anecdote.
That bird seriously could not give a single fuck. My real question is how someone hit a bird like that with a full size fucking arrow. That's some crack marksmanship if it wasn't a crossbow.
Yup... I think it's back to bed for me :V I've only read the headline "Red-tail hawk" as "Tony Hawk".
