Jump to TNG.
The first season is butt dumb, about a third of the way through second season shit gets good, really good, and then the sixth and seventh seaosn go back to ass again until the finale, which is amazing.
Yes. You won't regret it - the first season is a little shakey here and there but Season 2 it hits its stride and it just keeps going from there.
I swear to god if Seth Macfarlane ends up making a better Star Trek than a show with fucking Patrick Stewart in it
4 TNG Episodes out of a top 10 were in a list of most rewatched Star Trek Episodes on Netflix if that helps any.
I haven't seen Mike so enthusiastic about anything in a long time
Too bad it won't last
Voyager has some really good episodes. Maybe it was the 6 good episodes of Voyager and people just skip the rest, inflating the numbers.
Just go in order fam
TOS > TOS Films > TNG (TNG films not required since they're mostly trash) > DS9
and if you're still hungry for more Trek after that you can do VOY and ENT.
I was expecting at least one DS9 episode,
Which is the same for the TOS films.
Eh yeah I guess Generations is good in a "so bad it's good way" and First Contact is decent enough even though I personally don't like action Picard. And as for Insurrection and Nemesis, those did nothing for me really.
A lot of people say this, but the only film imo that's truly bad is STV for obvious reasons. TMP is kinda boring, but the visuals were good enough to keep me kinda into it. And Search for Spock gets some undeserved shit sometimes.
I don't think Star Trek Insurrection was bad story, I think it would have been fine as a TV Episode, but as a movie it just doesn't work.
Does stuff from TOS movies really matter in TNG? Like Spock dies and then they bring him back - does it really have a story impact on the individual episodes? Because I really like the episodic structure
To my knowledge no so you're probably good.
I liked Voyager. I think it was the persistence that always laid underneath everything. They're trying to get home and that's the entire series' plot, and everything else that happens has some sort of pull one way or the other with it. Similar to Battlestar Galactica (Though no where near as good) Where each episode you can see the progress, or lack there of, from the last
Not at all. As 27X said though, you’re making a mistake if you skip out on Star Trek IV. That movie is great.
All the TNG films suck. Name me one that isn't I dare you.
Still the best old Star Trek review

First contact and Generations?
Generations is awful though, it's the one where they bury kirk under a pile of rocks. I remember the rest of the plot being pretty dumb too.
First contact sucks purely because it has the stupid borg queen in it
First Contact shits all over the Borg and Picard's character. Nah, it's trash.
No voyager did that
Well considering how First contact was released a year before the Borg even first appeared in Voyager I'll have to disagree. Voyager just put the nail in the coffin and then lit it on fire with their dumb bullshit though.
I don't see this at all.
I find that hard to believe. You're gonna have to try really hard to convince me his character was changed from 'enlightened negotiator' to 'angry asshole macho action hero'.
There is a marked difference between his character on the TV show and the movies.

though of course this depends on how much you agree with Mike
There's only like 2 bad TOS films. The Motion Picture which is horribly boring and the one with Space God which is just stupid. Most of the TOS movies are at least fun to watch which can't be said for the TNG movies which imo.
PTSD is a bitch
Insurrection is some of the worst fucking writing ever put to film. The only way it could've worked is by throwing the script into the trash can and starting from scratch.
You can also partly blame Patrick Stewart on the action hero stuff, he's the one who wanted it.
