Just because the Nintendo Switch is handheld doesn't mean Nintendo's let go of their precious, successful handheld child, the Nintendo 3DS. Touting two screens and a glasses-less 3D gimmick, the 3DS is still alive and well. There are three families of the 3DS line: 2DS, 3DS, and New 3DS. New Nintendo 3DS features improved 3D, more buttons, and doubled processing power to support higher-spec games.

Nintendo now develops mobile titles via a partnership with DeNA. These games take Nintendo's franchises and adapt them into mobile genres. They are all high-quality productions, but feature simplified gameplay to suit the mobile market.

Nice Topic Name.
That was fast. Still, I'm just fucking curious what new game for 3DS they're going to announce.
Every gamecube game you wanted on the Switch.
I'd probably laugh for a whole straight week if they ported Melee to the 3DS
i cant wait for nintendo to announce a fortnite port to the 3ds on tomorrow's direct
Ok that would be epic.

I feel like I'm weird in that I'm not at all hyped for the Direct, or most Directs, so the delays have been nbfd for me. I mean, yeah, I'd like to see the announcements and see what Ninty's got, but I'm just kind of waiting for it to come.
Mario + Rabbids 3DS seems like it could possibly be a thing.
see me in 3ds pubg with gyro aiming
reminder that a post limit of 1k is incredibly fucking stupid and annoying for everyone involved
on-topic: fire emblem news, please, thanks
Won't be surprised if they announce a Special Edition for Three Houses.
Y'know, a thought occurred to me today:
If the Switch had a cellular chip in it, and Switch Online's $20/yr subscription also came with 4G service so you could go online from anywhere, would that be worth the asking price?
Here's my expectation of what's gonna be in the direct:
3DS
A new Phoenix Wright game (Capcom confirmed they will show something on TGS). Fucking hope they announce a collection of Ace Attorney Investigations 1 & 2.
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Story
Luigi's Mansion 3DS
Paper Mario: Thousand-Year Old Door port to piss people off.

Direct ends with a new Smash Ultimate newcomer OR teaser for the new gamemode "Spirits". Expecting ZERO information for Bayonetta 3 and Prime 4 as I believe they're saving those for next year's direct, as their big focus this year is Smash Ultimate obviously.
There's no way they could make a profit on that unless they got basically the entire Switch userbase on-board, so yes. That wouldn't make sense outside of dense small places like Japan because of the cost of mobile in, say, Canada.
Well I'm just going off of stuff like how Amazon has offered Kindles with 3G connectivity where you didn't even need to pay a subscription to maintain it, it's just permanent. Granted, that was just for eBooks and I'm assuming Amazon just worked out some sort of licensing agreement with whoever provided it where they just took the hit and the up-front price increase on the unit was enough to make it back.
I figured Nintendo - if they did something similar - could at least make some of that hit back continuously through the subscription fee.
taking all bets. Who thinks Nintendo is actually dense enough to locking the NES games to only working if connected to the internet?
I could definitely see it.
As I said before, they should stop wasting their time with gimmicky online ROM hacks and instead make a Netflix inspired Virtual Console where your Online subscription also gets you access to the whole library.
Nintendo knows better and they'll keep doing the same thing since Wii U: milking every game to its last drop.
I'm heavily inclined to believe this seeing as the update datamine revealed those "please reconnect to the internet in x minutes" strings. Just like Nintendo to require internet access on a system where you likely won't have a constant connection.
*Since the Wii.
I don't count the Wii since at that time it was a new thing.
Wow Sakurai really likes death in his Smash reveals. I can't believe it.
Wow, these new Smash trailers where they kill off Nintendo veterans are getting really dark...
