"Since we brought this case in 2013, the UK has actually increased its powers to indiscriminately surveil our communications whether or not we are suspected of any criminal activity. "In light of today's judgment, it is even clearer that these powers do not meet the criteria for proportionate surveillance and that the UK government is continuing to breach our right to privacy. This feels to me like an insurmountable challenge. Nothing is being done about this, and there's nothing I can do but raise awareness and vote for people who won't do it. Which is pretty fucking weak sauce. Just like torture, big data and mass surveillance are bullshit and strip away rights without any tangible benefit besides catharsis for the maliciously ill informed. I fear this will only get worse as time passes.
