Damn, that top comment;
Mr Trump, what's your opinion on voter cynicism?
Let me tell ya, i've seen voter cynicism for what? 30-40 years? I see it every day. It's a very bad thing. A terrible, terrible thing. And nobody can stop it. Except me. This has been going on for way too long, way, way too long. And Obama allowed it all the time. He couldn't stop it. Only I can. I had a great meeting last week with Kim Kardashian (who, by the way, is a wonderful woman) and we're going to make it right. We're going to destroy the cynicism that Obama created so hard, you'll see numbers you won't believe. Believe me! Nobody knows cynicism like i do, nobody! Without this thinking (points to own head) cynicism would be running rampant and a lot of people would be very very poor and the country would be doing very badly. But don't worry, I'll fix it, I have the best people, great people; and they're all doing a terrific job destroying the cynicism Obama and Crooked Hillary created.
I really miss the US president making some sense when he's speaking.
Good spech but the opt out comment i disagree with. There are a lot of people who correctly choose not to vote, just because they dont have free time to make an informed decision. If we were in a society with universal healthcare that didnt require a lot of people to work 2-3 jobs you could easily expect almost everyone to spend the time to research votes properly, but too many people have such insane workloads and aren't safe in their survival that not voting makes sense because it isn't informed. So, a long term point i'd add is that you also need to tackle poverty and make sure the citizenry has the capability to make informed votes too, you cant just truck more people to the polls and expect a good outcome.
I consider myself more clued up on politics than most and even I never feel like an informed voter. People vote on basic ideology rather than tested outcomes, also often choosing funny or entertaining candidates like Trump over people like Kasich (for the right) and Bernie (for the left) who at least still entertain the notion that the American identity is not linked to one single ideology, race or creed.
The enormous amount of elected positions in the US doesn't help, afaik UK people only vote for their member of the House of Commons and your city council, while in the US you can theoretically vote
for over 20 elected positions at once.
That's a good point. The fact the US population elect judges, for example, is an absurd proposition, in my view.
It's way more than that, with the number of states where the position is elected, if there's data
Federal:
President, federal senator, federal representative
State:
Governor, lieutenant governor (43), state senator, state representative (except in Nebraska), state secretary of state (35), state attorney general (43), state treasurer (36), state auditor (24), state superintendent of
schools (13), state insurance commissioner (11), state comptroller (9), state agriculture commissioner (12), state natural resource commissioner (5.5), state labor commissioner (4), state public service commission
(11), state board of regents, state mine inspector, state executive council, state public school commissioner, state board of equalization, state railroad commissioner, state tax commissioner
State judiciary:
State supreme court/court of appeals (22 directly elected, 6 use retention elections after assisted appointment/election), state intermediate appellate and general jurisdiction courts (21 directly elected, 16 retention
elections after assisted appointment/election
County/Local:
Jesus Christ just look at it all, school district boards, local courts (26 states, 11 others have a mix of election/assisted appointment/legislative elections/appointment)
what the fuck is Trump selling again?
he sounds exactly like those street vendors that follow you around trying to sell you stuff, to which you reply "I don't want any X", so he goes "no problem mate, I got Y, all the Y you want, the best aswell, you want it? I'll make you a good price! I got it from a friend from a friend from a friend to you know what, dont ask, you the cops?!"
He was, and honestly still is, selling that "he's not Obama or Hillary so clearly he's the good option."
