Wait, when did Ace from PPG get in this? How did the Gorillaz get the go-ahead for this?
I am so lost right now.
Interesting clash of styles in the video though.
Murdoc is in prison and Ace is replacing him temporarily
I can feel this will be one of their songs that will be remixed to hell.
Gorillaz were featured in an ad in PPG so presumably they’ve been tight with Genndy for a while.
Russell looks so happy
Contrast this with his animation in Clint Eastwood
Oh man, I love this Gorillaz aesthetic right now. So good.
I don't like murdoc's new nose.
noodle is also more reserved than usual. even after plastic beach she was still the most upbeat member. definitely some lore going on here.
Bit of a shame that the album version is kind of limp compared to live
Blonde Noodle looks fucking great, and the song is catchy as well
The same can be said about most of the songs, tbh. The don't have that same kick.

100000% better than the studio one
I've never quite understood why 2-Ds eyes are sometimes black and sometimes white
His eyes were black because he kept getting beat up or something. The white eyes imply that he’s being possessed or something iirc.
Animation? I dunno, it was their debut, I think he tired to appear more bad ass back then.
God it's been so long since we've seen them actually playing their instruments. I fucking love it.
I think Jamie Hewlett said he draws them whatever color he feels like at the time. I personally prefer the black eyes, but the white looks good in Phase 3 art.
Draw them? Next thing you tell me the beatles were cartoon characters.
They're normally black because of his 8ball fractures, they're filled with blood.
When they're white the theory is he's possessed because of Russel's eyes being white any time he was possessed.
Pretty surreal, i like.
What do you guys recommend of Gorillaz' for a newcomer? I've only fully listened to The Now Now and I really liked it.
Demon Dayz is by far the most popular/well known album. A decent place to start since it has a lot of their mainstream songs like Feel Good Inc. and DARE.
Gorrilaz (The album) and Plastic Beach are also really good.
S/T album is the best imo. start with that or demon days as Captain said
imo
Demon Days is like, required listening for anyone who has ever thought about dabbling in the whole "music" thing
the original self-titled Gorillaz is a bit Blur-esque, especially with tracks like 5/4 or Re-Hash - they're still trying to figure out what exactly they're doing with the whole thing but it's still full of p good tunes like 19-2000 and Clint Eastwood
Plastic Beach is... fine
The Fall is like, whatever
Humanz... ehhhhhhhh
perhaps it's just me but i like the S/T more if only because stuff seems a little bit more... thematically coherent? Demon Days felt like an album of singles, though i admit i haven't listened to it in a while
(and that's not necessarily a bad thing! i just prefer listening to albums in full rather than track-by-track)
Thanks for the info my friends. Slightly off-topic but if there's also any other albums that have that synthy-poppy sound of The Now Now let me know
Plastic Beach was A+ and was on par with Demon Days.
The Now Now is gr8, especially compared to Humanz, but never really breaks through with anything crazy good aside from Humility in my opinion.
He realizes why Murdoc terrorizes 2D, and how fun it is.
Also since 2d's getting possessed he doesn't have to
Also no Murdoc smell
Plastic Beach is one of the most divisive albums I've encountered.
I love it, personally.
