This reminds me of an indian film I watched on Netflix with some buddies called Krrish and I think it was the third one and was about an autistic guy who got given superpowers by ET but it was about his son.

It's a sci fi film based around Bollywood type story telling, yes some music video scenes but it goes through various genera as those movies are for everyone to come in and throw rose confetti in a collective hype train. There's a scene in the movie where the robot does something wrong which wouldn't had been bad in the west but it's a taboo in India, which makes it have a moment being unique.

the action scenes I found to be worth the wait.
